In a world dominated by artificial intelligence, digital overload, constant notifications and increasing social division, yoga offers something more revolutionary than ever: the ability to return to ourselves. Far beyond a workout or a trend, yoga is an ancient technology of consciousness, a practice designed to unite the body, mind and spirit. In 2026, as humanity navigates rapid technological change and emotional uncertainty, this peaceful discipline provides a pathway towards balance, compassion and inner evolution.

The physical benefits of yoga are widely recognised. Through asanas, the traditional postures of yoga, practitioners develop strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness. Movements such as downward-facing dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana), warrior poses (Virabhadrasana), tree pose (Vrikshasana) and headstands (Sirsasana) challenge the body while creating a deeper connection between breath and movement. Yoga can improve posture, mobility, circulation and nervous system regulation, helping people counteract the effects of modern lifestyles spent sitting, scrolling and living at high speed.

However, the true power of yoga extends beyond the physical. The ancient yogic philosophy teaches that the body is a gateway to higher awareness. Through meditation, breathwork (pranayama) and mindfulness, yoga helps calm the nervous system, reduce stress and create emotional resilience. In a time when anxiety, loneliness and burnout are widespread, yoga provides a sanctuary where people can reconnect with presence, stillness and self-compassion.

At the heart of yoga are the Yamas and Niyamas, ethical principles that guide a conscious way of living. Ahimsa, meaning non-violence, encourages compassion towards all living beings and is deeply connected with the philosophy of veganism. Choosing kindness towards animals, the planet and ourselves reflects the yogic belief that all life is interconnected.

Satya, the principle of truth, invites us to live authentically and reject illusions created by ego, fear or social pressure. In an era of misinformation and carefully curated digital identities, embracing truth has become a radical act. Brahmacharya, often translated as moderation or wise use of energy, teaches balance, helping us move away from excess and towards intentional living.

Different forms of yoga offer unique pathways depending on individual needs. Hatha yoga focuses on physical alignment and traditional postures, while Vinyasa connects movement with breath through flowing sequences. Ashtanga offers a disciplined and transformative practice, Kundalini explores energy awakening through meditation and mantra, Yin yoga encourages deep relaxation and emotional release, and Bhakti yoga uses devotion and love as a path towards spiritual connection.

The future of yoga is not about escaping the modern world, but transforming how we exist within it. As technology becomes more powerful, humanity must become more conscious. Yoga reminds us that true evolution is not only external, but internal.

In 2026, yoga is more than a wellness practice. It is a philosophy for creating a more peaceful, compassionate and connected world, one breath, one movement and one conscious choice at a time.

The idea of a “12-year dystopia” is no longer science fiction. With rising climate instability, ecological overshoot, socio-political fragmentation, and emotional burnout all converging, the world is accelerating toward a cascade of breakdowns. This is not alarmism, it is arithmetic. And yet, we are not without options. The future remains unwritten.

To avoid collapse, we must act with conscious urgency – not just to slow decline, but to manifest protopia: a world of continuous but realistic improvement. Not utopia, not apocalypse, but deliberate, regenerative progress. This means facing the crisis of planetary systems, food, peace, and personal wellbeing – all together – and redesigning them for harmony.

Rethinking the Land: From Extraction to Regeneration

Today, the Earth is out of balance. Over 77% of all agricultural land is used for animal agriculture — either for grazing or growing feed. Yet, animal products provide less than 18% of global calories and only 37% of protein. This gross inefficiency is a symptom of a deeper dysfunction: a food system built for profit, not sustenance.

If the world transitioned to a primarily plant-based diet, we could free up 75% of farmland, or over 3 billion hectares – an area equivalent to the combined landmass of China, the US, Australia, and the EU. This land could be rewilded, reforested, or used to grow climate-resilient crops, creating powerful carbon sinks and restoring planetary balance.

Going vegan isn’t merely a dietary shift – it is a geopolitical and ecological strategy. It reduces emissions, mitigates antibiotic resistance, improves food security, and radically reduces water usage (producing one kilogram of beef uses up to 15,000 litres of water).

Peace Is Not the Absence of War

Avoiding dystopia also means actively building peace. The current geopolitical climate, from Gaza to Ukraine, Sudan to cyber frontlines, is fragile. But conflict doesn’t just erupt; it gestates in inequality, resource scarcity, and unresolved trauma.

According to the Global Peace Index, the most peaceful societies are those that invest in social safety nets, education, gender equity, and transparent institutions. Preventing violence — whether state-sanctioned or internalised – is not only cheaper than cleaning up after it; it is also more humane.

We must embed peace-building into all systems: urban planning, education, even agriculture. War over water or food is not inevitable if we shift to cooperative, regenerative governance. A world where land is used wisely, food is abundant, and people are emotionally literate is a world less inclined toward war.

Wellness as Infrastructure

Any long-term vision for avoiding dystopia must prioritise not just ecosystems, but inner systems. Mental health crises, addiction, isolation, and chronic stress are not simply personal issues — they are indicators of a civilisation running on fumes.

Wellness is often mischaracterised as a lifestyle trend for the privileged. In truth, it is foundational. Regular yoga and meditation are proven to reduce cortisol levels, improve emotional regulation, lower heart disease risk, and increase neuroplasticity. These practices are low-cost, scalable, and, when made accessible, transformative.

Countries like Bhutan have already begun measuring wellbeing instead of GDP. Others could follow. Embedding wellness in public health – from yoga in schools to free meditation programs and digital detox campaigns – can help regulate not only the nervous system, but the social climate. A peaceful mind builds peaceful communities.

Culture, Consciousness, and Collective Will

The coming years demand a cultural shift as much as a technological or political one. We must abandon the myth of endless growth, rethink success beyond consumption, and embrace what artist-futurist NEO 10Y calls “a divine mission to elevate consciousness.” Their work, rooted in queerness, spirituality, and sonic prophecy, speaks to a generation that refuses to accept extinction as a default.

Culture is upstream from policy. If we can normalise plant-based diets, emotional intelligence, ecological living, and tech minimalism in our art, education, and media, laws and economies will follow. Protopia is not a tech product – it’s a collective software upgrade for civilisation.

A Better Future Is Still Possible

The next 12 years could bring climate chaos, social disintegration, and widespread displacement — or they could catalyse the greatest renaissance in human consciousness since the Enlightenment. What makes the difference is not ideology or GDP, but intentional design.

This design must be multidimensional: ecological regeneration, food justice, peace engineering, wellness access, and cultural uplift. It requires governments, artists, spiritual leaders, engineers, and educators to collaborate across silos – guided by a vision larger than survival.

As NEO 10Y reminds us, “We are here to co-create a world that works for everyone.” That world won’t arrive passively. It must be chosen, cultivated, and embodied.

The 12-year countdown is real. But so is our power to rise.

Over the next few months, we all have to get used to the prospect of being in lockdown. During this time, those of us who are used to going to the gym and other exercise locations might struggle with having to be indoors for prolonged periods.

Not only as we want to remain physically active, but the sedentary behavior can have a direct impact on mental health, well-being and quality of life. Physical activity and relaxation techniques can be invaluable tools when it comes to protecting your health during the lockdown.

To ensure that everyone remains healthy, both physically and mentally, the World Health Organization has recommended either 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity or 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week throughout lockdown. These recommendations can still be achieved, even if you’re at home with limited space or little to no special equipment.

Alongside a healthy plant-based diet, the following physical activities can be undertaken no matter if you have a house with a garden or an apartment with limited outdoor space.

Practice Yoga

Yoga is one of the most relaxing and spiritual activities that you can do. And with so many online yoga classes now available to take part in, you’ll be able to enjoy this from the comfort of your own home.

If you’re looking for a type of yoga that’s ideal for beginners, then search for yin yoga – as it focuses solely on holding stretches and harnessing the physical activity. Whereas if you’re looking for a more intense experience, then kundalini, ashtanga or vinyasa is ideal.

Yoga has long been a popular option for many, but never more so than now. You can either enjoy yoga inside or outside if you have a private outdoor space.

Try Jump Roping

If you want an intense workout during lockdown, then you might want to consider purchasing a jump rope. A good way to get cardio exercise, strengthen the muscles and develop focus, it requires little space to enjoy and anyone can do it. Jump ropes are also very affordable, meaning that you don’t have to spend out on expensive equipment to enjoy it.

Go on a Relaxing Walk

If you are looking to clear your mind, then a relaxing walk is just the ticket. The perfect opportunity to get some fresh air, the worries and stresses will start to lift. A great way to stay physically active, this accompanied by meditation is ideal throughout the quarantine period.

Of course, if you want a heightened outdoor activity, while sticking to the rules laid down by your government, you could always start skateboarding, jogging or cycle around your local area.

Final Thoughts

Throughout the next few months, it’s vital that you take care of both your physical and your mental health. A time when as well as exercising, you can work on your inner spiritual values through creative energy and meditation, you will come out of quarantine with a renewed sense of self and a new alignment to those around you.

If the current era of propelled enlightenment has taught us anything, it’s that as species, we’ve been duped for a very long time. The history of the most basic technology to optimise our bodies and human experience has been taken away from us, turned into a mystery that requires unlocking through extensive research over immense time. That said, I have been working on ways to unlock this code and find the most succinct and digestible way of sharing what I’ve learnt.
From my personal experience, these practises and thinking points have resulted in a far heightened control of my consumption habits, enhanced sexual experiences, clear skin, far optimised human body, mind and spirit, higher vibrational frequency, anxiety and stress reduction and a more positive outlook overall.

I thought we could start this journey with the root chakra. Mastering this can help us govern and work through all of our other energy centres. Our root chakra is located at the base of your spine where our sex organs are located. Energetically, it is coded by the colour red and is representative of fundamental human needs, what you consume to survive, sleep, sex, self preservation, physicality and is the energy centre that represents grounding and foundation.

Specifically for this guide, I wanted to focus on how understanding and connecting with our root chakra can enhance your sexual and overall experience as a human being. I was so grateful once I had discovered how much small daily routine exercises and focus work can help improve your spiritual connection with your root and result in more control, pleasure and ultimately the ability to manifest your reality in a way that suits the direction that you want to take your journey in.

In the modern digital landscape, exploring these connections often extends into our virtual interactions and how we present our desires online. As we navigate new ways to express intimacy, finding the right platforms and identities becomes a significant part of the contemporary sexual experience. Many individuals are now looking for creative sexting usernames to establish a sense of persona while maintaining their privacy in digital spaces. This evolution of communication allows for a playful yet intentional exploration of one’s sexual energy before even meeting in person. By integrating these digital expressions with our physical practices, we create a more holistic approach to modern connection.

Tantra arose as a reclamation of practices that had been excluded from mainstream yoga and Indian educational and religious institutions in part to how truly powerful its understanding is. During peak colonialism, images and records were destroyed by the West and leading practitioners were killed, which explains why the rediscovery of these core technologies has been so difficult over the years, particularly in the UK, Australia and America.

Here is my initial 10-point guide to understanding and mastering your root. I hope it helps as a start and at least inspires a more advanced journey in this space.

1. Focus mental healing energy towards your root chakra at least once a day through meditation. Remember, your body is already healing itself, you are already a healer, being conscious of that and seeking to optimise your healing abilities can be part of your spiritual growth process.

2. Pull in your stomach and contract and relax the muscles around your anus, sex organs and perineum. You can do this anywhere, at any time. It helps if you are more focussed.

3. Consume alkaline foods only to maintain a higher vibration, a more seamless contact with the universe/life force and an overall better energetic health for your physical being. Alkaline foods are primarily comprised of vegetables, lentils, fruits, water and herbal teas. Limit or ideally cease consumption of alcohol, animal products and processed food.

4. Listen to vibrational frequency of 256Hz which is the frequency associated with activating your root, sending sound therapy to the base of your spine. You can search for this frequency or “root chakra frequency” on YouTube.

5. Practise yoga exercises, particularly Kundalini which is technology focused on the energy coil at the base of your spine i.e. where you root chakra is. You can also find some guides on gaia.com and YouTube.

6. Love your root. Tend not only emotionally, but physically to your sex organs, including your anus – don’t disregard it as an exit point, embrace and love it even if you aren’t having anal intercourse. Moisturise it, groom/trim the space around it, send it love and accept it as part of you.

7. Practise walking barefoot in nature to strengthen your connection with Earth. Walking barefoot also promotes an ionic balance of electrons within cells and tissues as the ground is naturally negatively charged.

8. Burn incense or oils from cedar wood aromas, myrrh and patchouli. These can help you during meditation or yoga for raising the vibration of your root.

9. If you work with crystals or are starting to explore this space energetically, look into exercises with heliotrope, tiger eye, hematite, agate of fire and black tourmaline. You can also try inserting a smooth crystal into your anus for a few hours during meditation practise.

10. Experiment with colour therapy, red is the allocated colour for your root and can be used during meditations, day to day healing practises and even the colour underwear you choose to wear.
