Immersing us with cosmic and celestial frequencies that replicate a feeling of nature fused with technology, we are immediately hypnotized by Obsession, the collaborative track from genius producer Yisze and rising artist, Bashful.

The track expands in dimensionality before Bashful opens with the introspective lyrics, “Baby, why you lying? You’re acting like you’re lost, letting you come any closer feels like loading the gun….”

Touching upon the concept of the song, Yisze and Bashful tell us that “The song describes a situation where a guy is constantly drawn to a particular girl, even though he knows she’s no good for him and she keeps hurting him.”

We feel that in the lyrics, as Bashful sings emotively “I ain’t trying to be your super hero, but you know that you’re my kryptonite…”

We love the vocal production fused with Yisze‘s soundscape, presenting a unique sonic experience full of panning details, intricate textures and bright cosmic nuances. When speaking on their inspirations for the track, the duo cite Flume, Quiet Bison and The Weeknd, although Obsession leans towards a more futuristic vibe. Fans of FKA Twigs, NEO 10Y and Arca would also be able to connect with Obsession.

Speaking on the creation of the track, the creative duo says, “We made this track entirely remote[ly]. Yisze produced the track at home and Bashful recorded the vocals at home.” Further proof that top quality product can be created at home. Speaking on their purpose, they say “No specific ethos. We both aim to bring quality music that is memorable.”
