Setting the tone with an ethereal soundscape and a luxurious, pulsing beat, XIVA opens her PRESENCE with atmospheric vocals and the lyrics, “Felt you in my dreams last night, when you see me please don’t die…”

When speaking on the inspiration behind the song, XIVA tells us candidly, “On a trip the the UK, I had a soul connection with someone. I felt like I knew this person and visited them in a dream.”

The rising artist from Montréal cites Sade as her biggest influence, although it is clear that XIVA is creating a universe of her own. Elaborating on the industry at present, XIVA says, “My music inspiration changes, there are lots of independent artists that inspire me who are doing amazing things.”

We are hypnotized by XIVA‘s vocal timbre and luscious harmonies. Her vocal range is out of this world, and the overall production of the opus is cinematic and transcendental.

The fusion sonic landscape is a hybrid of immersive drum and bass with a pop-R&B-soul energy. PRESENCE features spoken a word moment where XIVA incites the concept of, “What if we don’t wake up…what if we stay here…”, followed by an echoing giggle.
