It is the third and final single from their upcoming album, Balloons For My Funeral, and Xavier tells us, “It is a love letter to my family acknowledging their heroic figure in my life and a call to arms to future generations.”

Elaborating on the soundscape, Xavier confesses, “Musically it is inspired by anime intros and video game music”, which we can feel come through in the sound design of the piece, in line with their naturally theatrical pop-punk nature!

We love the rippling intricacy of the piano performed by Josh Karas, combined with Xavier’s powerful and passionate vocal delivery which brings to life the narrative of the composition.

As Xavier reminisces about the simpler times, Restart delivers a profound and relatable message about “the difficulty of life and the yearning to start over”. Bold electric guitars give us an anthemic vibe, and add dimensionality to the track as Xavier takes us on an emotive and sometimes theatrical pop-punk journey.

The rising artist from Dallas tells us, “The song is an alt-rock track that expresses the difficulty of life and the yearning to start over. It acknowledges friends and family that have been lost over the years and wanting to go back to simpler times.”

Restart was recorded in May in Nashville, Tennessee. Nathan McCord mixed and produced the opus and it features Alex Hodge and Fox DeVaughn on bass and guitar respectively.

Setting the tone with an immersive alternative rock frequency with drums, synths and enigmatic guitar, Xavier Bernazard opens his latest single, Enemy, with the lyrics, “You’re nothing but a kid, keep it quiet, keep it hidden, boy, no-one likes who you are, no-one cares what you’ve done at all…” as he recounts oppressive words that he once said to himself.

The song expands into a self-realized message where our protagonist takes control of his emotions and destiny. Speaking on the meaning of the track, the rising artist from Dallas says, “This song is about recognizing yourself as your own worst enemy. No one can get in the way of your dreams except yourself.”

Enemy is the lead single from Xavier Bernazard‘s upcoming album Balloons For My Funeral and makes a cohesive statement on self love and self acceptance, something that a lot of people need, as self sabotage is a running theme with our generation.

There is an intricate instrumental segment with a bright and intricate synth detail which build as Xavier sings, “I’m my own Enemy, kept my life in misery…”

Enemy is produced by Nathan McCord who also performs drums and mixed the track, whilst Alex Hodge performs bass and Fox DeVaughn delivers epic guitar.
