Drawing us in with a rising guitar soundscape, building tension and emotion, The Poozies open Wired to the Mood with a folk-rock adjacency and dimensionality. We appreciate the playful pizazz that manifest as the band shares the lyrics, “She tells you her ideas and you think she just might be a roaster, but you follow her path and you know you want to stay there for good…”

We immediately connect with the poetic prowess and conceptual depth of the prose. The track feels unique both sonically and lyrically. Wired to the Moon serves as a love letter in song form. It is about being pulled into someone’s orbit and never wanting to leave. The hook, “Cos she’s wired to the moon, she’s luminous cool, with Liberace’s smile and Peerie Willie’s style, she’s wired to the moon…” brings this to life poignantly.

We learn that the song was written by Eilidh Shaw about her fellow bandmate and lifelong best pal, Sarah McFadyen. Sarah is wild, generous, and magnetic. The song celebrates that rush of trust, devotion and joyful surrender that comes with this human connection, and manifests on a celestial level.

Wired to the Moon was written by Eilidh Shaw and arranged by The Poozies. Eilidh Shaw performs vocals and fiddle, with Sarah McFadyen on vocals and electric guitar (very meta!). Mary Macmaster plays vocals and electro bass harp, Mike Bryan also adds vocals and acoustic guitar, and Donald Hay shares his skill on drums.

It captures notions of admiration, friendship and creative kinship through its message, whilst Sarah is painted as luminous and fearless – a force that lifts us higher and steadies us at the same time. What an ode! We appreciate the tempo shifts, and how these reinforce the message of the song, but also showcase how dynamically and cohesively the band plays together.

Fresh from major BBC appearances and a sold out Edinburgh Hogmanay show, the band is currently recording a new album at Castlesound Studios and heading into touring and festival dates with the same fierce energy, irreverence and pure love energy that has always defined them.

Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Wired to the Moon to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of The Poozies, including The Widow, and Another Train.
