Establishing the mood with an intricate guitar soundscape, tapping into an alt-country energy, Foxy Leopard opens The Call with brooding, raspy vocals and the lyrics, “My doubts hide in whispers, like shadows on the floor, every night more questions, knocking on my door, a breath on the window, it fogs and just fades out, I remember the echo, from a silence turned aloud…”

We immediately connect with the uncanny human authenticity that transmutes and the poetic prowess that manifests with the prose. The cinematic and metaphorical depth is tangible and we are in awe of the high emotional quotient of the song.

There is no doubt that The Call would be perfect for a range of sync placements – notably a movie or TV show that mirrors the concept of the song. We learn that The Call serves as a defining moment of Foxy Leopard‘s upcoming album, War & Peace. The song is a direct reflection of the narrative of the entire album, which is based around the human cost of the American Civil War and the weight carried by those who fought, suffered or waited for news that never came.

The sonic ebbs and flows are sublime, the middle eight truly tugs on our heartstrings whilst the finale feels epic. Foxy Leopard’s universe is high concept and based around a character called Morgan – a weathered Union sergeant who acts as a human anchor for the album’s themes. Through him, The Call becomes a moment of awakening, essentially a confrontation with trauma, memory, and hope.

The Québécois creator’s philosophy is straightforward. He believes that every song must have purpose. The project is built on honouring real stories, real suffering, and the echoes of history that shape us. The intentional belief is that music should remember what people might forget. The artist confesses, “Foxy Leopard is not about the Civil War. It is about the eternal war inside the human heart – and the fragile, beautiful peace we keep reaching for.”
