Setting the tone with a bold and immersive tapestry of drums, guitar and bass, Vomit Baby open their debut single, Eleven with an emotive vocal delivery, and we are obsessed.

We learn that Eleven deals with themes of “proving nay-sayers wrong”. The brand confess, “It always feels like we’re being told we’re not good enough to do what we love. We see it in every walk of life where artists are criticized for following a passion.”

They add, “With a tongue-in-cheek attitude, Eleven aims to stand up for the creatives that society and culture rely on.”

Speaking on their influences, Vomit Baby tell us in depth, “Our collective favourite band is King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, so we draw a lot of inspiration from those guys. Our songs vary quite a lot through the spectrum of rock music, but inspiration is mainly drawn from the likes of Black Sabbath, Royal Blood, Mastodon, Green Day. Tyler also takes a lot of inspiration for the song writing techniques used by The Dillinger Escape Plan and The Mars Volta, and how they use odd time and polymeters within their songs to produce interesting melodies and differing sections.”

Fans of Royal Blood, Slaves and The Chats will definitely be able to connect with Vomit Baby, but it is clear that the trio are creating a sound of their own. The band based in Slough in the United Kingdom consists of Tyler Sanis on guitar and lead vocals, Kurt Fry on drums and Charlie Hood on bass.

The finale of the track is a trip with the emotive screamo reprise which breaks down into a subversive and stripped back outro with vocal textures, add libs and an almost meditative vibe.

We appreciate the poetic nuance that the trio share with their art, and the authentic nature of their debut, which touches upon relatable themes. We have added Eleven to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate more releases from Vomit Baby.
