Establishing the mood with a cerebral and dimensional soundscape featuring astral, beeping synths, whirring nuances, a trippy bass, and a leftfield influence, Magnus & John open Vincent with atmospheric vocals and the assertive lyrics, “I’m not afraid of you, and you should get what you deserve, I’m not afraid that it hurts, so disconnect from what you do, now I’m gonna push through…”

The opus expands with intrigue and drama to unveil a fierce techno beat which feels club-friendly, but also cinematic. We could imagine the track locking in a number of sync placements, notably a TV show like Euphoria on HBO with a pivotal scene that reflects the lyrics, or a sci-fi movie like Limitless or Lucy.

The gated synths and glitched vocals add dynamism to the piece before 80s descending drum riffs evoke an almost dark-wave sentiment. We find ourselves dancing, our hearts racing, whilst feeling empowered by the contextual message of the song.

In a sense, this can be interpreted on a personal level, but also on a more holistic worldview level, in the face of global conflicts and the current political climate. Mid-way through the piece, the composition almost crashes out into an airy silence with broken lyrics. This moment invites further introspection and the repeated mantras of the prose remind us of the intention of the creators.

A soft and wailing wind sound feels almost meditative for this middle eight before the composition rebuilds into a pulsating beat and panning melodic finale that has an almost psychedelic sentiment. Overall, the production is genius and we deeply appreciate the journey that Magnus & John have taken us on.

We learn that Magnus & John are “dedicated gear addicts”, and use a fusion of analog hardware and modern tech to create this driving, club-ready sound. The track was also mixed by Horichh and mastered by Ohad Nissim.

We have added Vincent to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY and TIMELESS playlists, whilst we continue to stream Magnus & John‘s wider discography, including Closer, Sublime, andFuse Together.
