We continue with our V-Train obsession, following our reviews of Cold World and Sunset on the BLVD, with a spotlight on the rising artist’s latest single, Sunday Service!

Setting the vibe with radio frequencies and a sample of Friends Let Me Tell You About Jesus by The Dixieaires, we are intrigued by Sunday Service!

The song, laced with a classic vinyl texture, takes us on an enigmatic journey, infused with the sample singing, “let me tell you about Jesus”, which sets the religious tone of Sunday Service, and according to V-Train, “presents the old time gospel sounds that were present in the Black Churches.”

We love the immersive nature of the track and are in awe of how V-Train fuses his multi-instrumentalist skills with piano, guitar, bass, drums, ukulele and other percussion instruments to create an entire sonic landscape with his artistry.

The activism that goes with the track to raise awareness of God and love energy is present and much needed. Of course, we have added Sunday Service to our New Music Spotlight playlist!

With enigmatic keys and celestial frequencies, V-Train opens his latest release, Sunset on the BLVD. We were first introduced to V-Train (aka Vernon Jeffries) with his emotive single Cold World, and have been fans ever since.

We were really excited to experience Sunset on the BLVD which takes us on a cerebral and dynamic journey of bliss and warm energy.

Speaking on the creation of the track, rising artist V-Train says, “This is a simple lo-fi song I created with a combination of my electric guitar, synthesizers and FL Studio. It’s an upbeat song that makes you imagine the calmness and peace that a person experiences while looking out to the horizon.”

We feel the peace that is conveyed with this record and the way that the multi-instrumentalist has fused his skills to create a cohesive and blissful canvas.

V-Train continues, “This song conveys the image of a sunset and just being at ease with the setting. It makes you feel calm and glad that the day is over.”

“Whatever the mood is, my music will be able to express that without words”, reinforces the rising artist from Lansdale, confidently. Sunset on the BLVD, like Cold World, also fades out, again a super unique experience which has become somewhat of a signature for V-Train!

Setting the tone with lo-fi keys and faded, textured vocals, V-Train gives us dimensional and emotive production for his fourth single, Cold World.

The song takes us on a journey form nostalgia to the future and also samples “Melange” The Casual Brothers feat. Ayla. Speaking on his art and the track, V-Train says, “I write songs that depict the current mood I’m in. I’m not a fan of sad songs, but I feel that I’m at my best when I write them because it’s from my heart.”

The song, albeit only 2 minutes 39 in length, has distinguished sections which makes the song unique and dimensional.

Inspired by “lo-fi Hip-Hop”, the song also features a fade out, something quite rare in songs today, giving Cold World that nostalgic edge. We love the emotion in the keys and the textured use of the vocal samples which really elevate the multi-dimensionality of the track.

When discussing the theme of the song, V-Train says, “The song is about the feeling of despair and depression from all the calamities of the world and trying to find comfort in the smallest things.”
