Our obsession with Sweden’s Ulrich Jannert seems to grow with every listen. We previously featured Two Men by the Harbor, and Time is YOUR ASSET, so naturally, we were intrigued to hear his latest release, Rewrite the Road.

Enticing us with a timeless, cinematic piano line, Rewrite the Road opens with warm ad-libs and brooding lead vocals with subtle percussion clicks as he sings, “Born somewhere, not our call, family, neighbours, rise or fall, some days heavy, some unfair, questions hanging in the air…”

We immediately connect with the introspective depth, and in essence, Rewrite the Road is about accepting where we come from but not letting it control our future. Ulrich Jannert shares poetic prowess about how we do not choose our family, our surroundings or the challenges we face.

He explains how some experiences are painful, whilst some feel unfair. The lyrics show the questions many of us ask ourselves about purpose and identity. At the same time, the message is clear. The past cannot be changed, but it does not always have to define who we become.

The chorus encourages strength and action. It invites us to let go of toxic situations, and reminds us to stop carrying around old weight. It is about hope, freedom and notions of rewriting our future on our own terms. In that sense, it feels very resonant, in the face of what a lot of us are experiencing as a collective.

We deeply vibe with the soulful nature that manifests. It is truly for anyone at a crossroads, and would be perfect for a coming-of-age movie with a similar theme, like Marty Supreme. As the cornerstone and opening track of Ulrich Jannert‘s EP of the same name, it invites us to release what weighs us down and step forward with intention. The road is not written in stone. As the talented artist reminds us, “Yesterday is not the proof, you rewrite tomorrow’s road….”

We have added Rewrite the Road to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Ulrich Jannert, including the entirety of the EP!

Last year we featured Time is YOUR ASSET by Ulrich Jannert, which served as a transcendental anthem of self-ownership, purpose, and the fleeting nature of time, so naturally, when we heard that the artist was back to open 2026 with Two Men by the Harbor, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Two Men by the Harbor opens with immersive piano chords and a sublime saxophone performance, expanding with textured drums and a high emotional quotient. There is a cinematic energy that manifests with the song as Ulrich Jannert sings the title of the track with the words, “Two Men by the Harbor, one says ‘I want safety’, a home that shelters me, warm lights, steady living, peaceful place to be… the other hears the wild wind, calling beyond the shore, I’d rather chase horizons than wonder what life’s for…”

We immediately connect with the philosophical depth and narrative-driven song writing that manifests. The vocal timbre is captivating, and we love the emergence of the guitar to add dimensionality to the song. There is no doubt that Two Men by the Harbor would be perfect for a range of sync deals, notably a coming-of-age film with a similar narrative about choosing your story and life’s pursuits.

In essence, Two Men by the Harbor is a reflective, metaphor-driven song about a universal inner conflict. Ulrich Jannert perfectly brings to life the choice between a safe, stable life and the pull of freedom, risk, and self-discovery.

Rather than offering answers, the embraces uncertainty. It uses the harbor and the sea as symbols of time, aging, and final decisions. Eventually, it invites us to trust our inner compass and accept that every life choice carries both loss and possibility.

We love the instrumental finale and the incredible vocal riffs that Ulrich Jannert shares. He says, “I actually write all tracks for myself and listen to them regularly to create good vibes. But everyone is invited to listen too.

There is no doubt that the best songs are created this way – with authenticity and personal connection, which eventually transpire to a wider audience. Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Two Men by the Harbor to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the growing discography of Ulrich Jannert, and anticipate future releases from the visionary artist.

Ulrich Jannert’s latest opus, Time is YOUR ASSET, is a philosophical reflection on the fleeting nature of time and the power of intentional living. Blending an earthy, strummed acoustic soundscape with charismatic vocals, Jannert crafts a track that is both uplifting and profoundly introspective. The instrumental mastery on display, marked by textured drums and sublime guitar riffs, elevates this piece beyond a mere melody, making it a sonic meditation on self-ownership and choice.

From the very first chords, the song’s warm yet cinematic presence establishes itself. The acoustic strumming provides an organic foundation, allowing Jannert’s vocals to shine with a depth that feels both personal and universal. There is an undeniable sincerity in his delivery, making us feel as though he is speaking directly to us, urging us to take control of our lives before time slips away.

Thematically, Time is YOUR ASSET transfigures lived experience into wisdom, making it a song that resonates on a soul level. The lyrics paint an urgent yet empowering picture: time is not just a passive force but an asset to be actively managed. Lines like “If your time ain’t yours, whose life do you play?” and “Own yourself wholly, don’t let it slip away” cut through the noise of modern distractions, urging listeners to break free from autopilot mode. The song doesn’t just reflect on the passage of time; it calls for decisive action.

The instrumental elements further enhance the song’s emotional quotient. The guitar solo, in particular, is nothing short of astral and transcendental, momentarily lifting the track into a realm that feels both timeless and infinite. Its soaring notes create a sense of expansion, as if the song itself is stretching time, allowing the listener to pause, reflect, and feel deeply. Meanwhile, the textured drums provide an unrelenting yet unobtrusive pulse, mirroring the steady ticking of life’s moments.

With its cinematic quality, Time is YOUR ASSET feels like it belongs in the soundtrack of a poignant film. Imagine a pivotal moment in a coming-of-age drama, where the protagonist stands at a crossroads, looking over a vast cityscape or an open road, contemplating the future. This track would be the perfect underscore to a scene of self-realization, where a character, after years of hesitation, finally makes the choice to follow their heart. It could also work beautifully in a motivational montage, where someone breaks free from routine, chasing dreams long set aside.

Ulrich Jannert has created a timeless anthem for anyone seeking to reclaim their time and purpose. It’s a sonic reminder that life is fleeting, but with awareness and action, we can own our moments and shape our own destinies. Time is YOUR ASSET is a call to live fully.

Naturally, we have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Ulrich Jannert, including Barefoot DREAMS, LIFE’s TWIST and TURNS, and YING and YANG.
