Drawing us in with a rhythmic guitar soundscape that feels high octane and timeless, The Burbs open There’s No Time For Presents with high concept opening prose and an assertive energy as they sing, “From somewhere deep in a hereditary trap, couldn’t do shit to hold you back, when everything leads to a substitute, the fucker wouldn’t even contribute…”

The opus expands with a cerebral and introspective mood with a high emotional quotient as The Burbs share their souls with us through a haunting tale. There’s No Time For Presents tells the story of someone trapped in a cycle of abuse.

It taps into notions of violence and neglect. The abuser in the situation tried to escape responsibility, but the pain for their victim remained. The band reflects on being there during the aftermath. It ends with questions about guilt, uncertainty, and what more could’ve been done.

The track has a cinematic appeal, perfect for a massive Hollywood synch deal for the final scenes of a movie related to the poignant and heavy themes of the song. The chord choices and vocals have us on the verge of tears – we can really tell that when this was written, it came from a very authentic place.

There’s No Time For Presents serves as a raw piece of artistry that blends grunge intensity with acoustic depth. The themes of guilt and powerlessness, along with haunting vocals, muted guitars, and eerie percussion manifest an energy that feels extremely real.

Following earlier success, this release cements The Burbs as one of Australia’s most compelling new bands. Naturally, we have added There’s No Time For Presents to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of The Burbs, including Ladder To The Moon, and Skin And Bones.
