Drawing us in with a choral expression of the lyrics, “Standing in front of the gates, we won’t move our feet, til the sun sets down, til the night becomes light…”, TOTAL REVERENDS open The Revolution is Inevitable with a bold and assertive statement, immediately channelling their art into intentional activism.

We deeply connect with the message, and appreciate the expansion into an educational, alternative rock soundscape as TOTAL REVERENDS deliver a poignant commentary on human slavery, capitalism, corporate brainwashing and how revolution is the inevitable solution.

“We refuse to be afraid, we refuse to be silent, we refuse to be complicit, we refuse to be calm…” exclaim the band as they invite us to raise our fists to the sky, until we have safety and liberation for all. In a world where oppression only seems to be growing, what TOTAL REVERENDS are sharing is poignant and zeitgeist. The garage rock energy of the track also feels raw, punk and authentic.

We learn that TOTAL REVERENDS was formed by Francesco Forni (guitar, vocals) and Piero Monterisi (drums), and subsequently became a trio with the addition of Gabriele Lazzarotti (bass guitar). Born from an experimental live concept in Rome, TOTAL REVERENDS has evolved from a fluid collective into a focused project, thriving on reinvention.

Speaking on the project’s inception, Francesco paints a picture, “A venue in Rome once gave me a booking for December 8th. I decided to do the ‘Madonna concert’. I put together a congregation of ‘priests’ and ‘nuns’ with whom we twisted well-known songs, making them almost unrecognizable. Since then, the Madonna concert became the REVERENDS concert and, subsequently, the TOTAL REVERENDS concert. The band was mobile and modular, until settling into the trio with Gabriele Lazzarotti and Piero Monterisi. The album was recorded with them. We then experimented with the quartet, and finally the duo: more original and stimulating for live improvisations.”
