Setting the tone with textured guitar fused with frequency details, The Oxford Drive Band opens their upcoming release with the lyrics, “Take the long way, take the long way home…”

The narrative of The Long Way Home tells a moving and cerebral story of “looking for home”. Hypnotizing frequencies and poetic references bring the story to life with expansive production and lyrics detailing “travelling the unknown” to find a place of belonging.

Some of our favourite lyrics include the visual “on the Earth, standing still” and the celestial “suddenly I’m dancing, dancing with the moon”, as the band searches for home.

Speaking on the creation of the track, The Oxford Drive Band says, “We have all been through so much these past couple of years in the world and so with the twists and turns of life we were inspired to write this song and get some of that grief/loss and longing out.”

The vocalist from The Oxford Drive Band is Marian Godwin, who has been through much change and turmoil in her life, speaks on her creativity saying, “I think first and foremost I think of myself not necessarily as a women artist but as a human trying to connect with myself through music. A shared journey through music is something so much bigger than myself and because music is truly the universal language how powerful that is to create something that can allow for human connection in a deep way in an often disconnected world.”
