Whisky and design have always had a rather synonymous relationship, a few years ago I worked with Philip Michael Wolfson and Glenorangie to create the limited edition SoundForm Fluid bar, so I’ve always been keen to see the development of additional collaborations between the two spheres.

In time for Design Miami which starts this week, British glass sculptor Joseph Harrington has revealed his exhibit for the UK Crafts Council’s A Future Made ’The Miami Edit’ funded by a sponsorship from The Glenlivet.

The piece is created using Harrington’s unique ‘Lost Ice Process’ evoking “the elemental passing of time”. Its design is inspired by The Glenlivet Winchester Collection Vintage 1966, echoing the rich dark amber of the 50 year old whisky and is set in relief against pale and clear glass to represent both the purity and fluidity of the Livet springs and the ritual of serving Scotch on the rocks.

The piece will be exhibited in Miami this week at A Future Made at 1 Hotel’s penthouse in Miami, curated by interior designer and tastemaker Natalie Miyar, and then auctioned via The Collect Auction at the end of January.
