Establishing the mood with a vibrant, strummed guitar soundscape, Weston Day opens Storms with a high octane energy as he reflects with the lyrics, “Do you remember how it used to be? There was a world there that belong to you and me, but I had to let it go…”

We immediately connect with the timeless emotional journey that Weston Day is taking us on. The prose is laced with raw authenticity, poetic prowess and relatable depth. In essence, Storms is about remembering a past relationship and having to let it go.

It looks back on notions of a shared world that no longer exists. Weston Day feels sentiments of loss and acceptance at the same time. Letting it fade might feel painful, but is wholly necessary. The storm and water imagery show emotions growing stronger. Small tears manifest into overwhelming feelings, and love still pulls him back emotionally. Even after heartbreak, he still feels connected once again.

We learn that Storms is the first single from Weston Day‘s album MAPS. It is consciously designed to reflect on life changes, loss and the shared experiences that we all recognize. There is no doubt that the track is perfect for a multitude of sync placements, perhaps a coming-of-age TV show, or a remake of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

The album MAPS is set to explore love, family, nature and what it is like to grow older. Weston Day tells us how it focuses on vulnerability, self-reflection and creative honesty. The songs capture lessons learned and lessons still unfolding, and the album is meant to guide, challenge and connect with the human spirit on the journey ahead.

We have added Storms to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Weston Day, including Icarus, and Lighten Up, and await the entirety of MAPS!
