With celestial details, akin to shooting stars or lasers, fused with the production, Soda Cracker Jesus (aka Regan Lane) sings introspectively, “If I lose my mind, tell me what I’ll find, if I find a dream to share, will everyone be kind?“

Hoping For The Best lends itself to a high concept and cerebral, yet optimistic vibe with deep themes from the Lane as he weaves his own narrative, with sonic references from some of his influences including “The Kinks, XTC, late-era Beatles psychedelia and Pink Floyd’s Syd Barrett years”.

We can definitely feel some David Bowie in there too, especially during the middle eight and bridge segments, which lend themselves to a more cosmic energy. We are hypnotized.

We love Lane’s lyrical mind, especially with gems like the pensive “Underneath the gratitude, I question everything I do” and the astral “I have this dream, I disappear in outer space…”, as he sings about his sadness whilst seeking to manifest a better reality for himself and the world.
