By now, you will know that we have been featuring Snakedoctors for their anthem, Friday Night and thought-provoking single, Crime Story, so we simply had to feature their brand new release, Too Many featuring Christine Corless, which came out on the same day as their fourth studio album!

Easing us in with immersive grunge guitar and a synth crescendo fused with alternative rock drums and insutrual electric guitar, we are already blown away.

“No matter what you’re gonna go, she will bring you down more than you want…”, sings vocalist Wojciech followed by the introduction of Christine Corless as she delivers introspective and emotive lyricism in synch with the band.

Too Many is the third single promoting the fourth double Snakedoctors album “Four and a half” which also just came out! It’s a song about “difficult life issues that may arrive”.

Too Many comes with a cinematic visual that goes seamlessly with the energy of the track and features Helen Thomson filmed near Zhytomyr, Ukraine as well as live performance moments from the band.

We first wrote about Snakedoctors when they started to tease their upcoming album with thought-provoking single, Crime Story, so we were thrilled to hear that the band’s next instalment was here, with Friday Night.

Accompanied by a conceptual video that sees Kathy Peters, aka non binary actor and TikTok sensation @kathyinframe, lip synching to the vocals of singer Wojciech Wypych, we are already mesmerized.

The song takes us on a subversive sonic journey that feels like a hybrid of electro-rock, new wave and alt disco. Speaking on the meaning of the track, the band says, “We’ve used a lot of electronic sounds recently. which you can tell right away listening to Friday Night.

“There’s much influence from new wave in it and the song itself tells the story – about what we could do after hard work week on the weekend”, continue Snakedoctors.

Expanding on their artistry, Snakedoctors say “We are very lucky with the producers involved in production – this song was mixed by Joe Gibb, well known for working with such bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Kinks, Jane’s Addiction, Stone Roses and The Mission and mastered by Kevin Paul, who also worked with Depeche Mode, the Kinks, Yazoo, Erasure and David Bowie.”

The upcoming double album from the band is called Four and a Half, due out on May 27, and we can’t wait!

Setting the tone with enigmatic guitar and grunge infused drums, we are immediately hypnotized by Snakedoctors‘ Crime Story as they open the song with the lyrics, “despite your nasty plan, I wanna save myself…”

The themes and soundscape are transportive, with as sense of nostalgia for 90s grunge, fused with dark wave and classic rock nuances.

Snakedoctors are an indie band from Poland with sixteen singles and 3 albums since 2020. If that doesn’t signify hard work ethic, then we don’t know what does!

When speaking on their influences, the band cites “new wave, dark wave, grunge, post-punk and rock”. Snakedoctors have been working on another double record expected later this year and have teamed up with some of the artists who worked with Depeche Mode, Yazoo, The Cure, The Mission, The Kinks, Erasure and David Bowie. Iconic!

Crime Story is heavily inspired by early 80’s new wave heroes. The band says, “It’s a song about dark side of life”. That is super apparent with the lyricism which you can immerse yourself in through the lyric video.

Lyrical highlights include the introspective “it’s like the ugliest dream, this story is like a crime”, and the philosophical “it seems it’s understood, we cannot say it stops…”

On the upcoming album, Four, we can expect a hybrid of electronica and grunge. Meanwhile, we have added Crime Story to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been listening to the band’s existing discography, including their albums Girl With Sponges and Mellow Joy.
