Setting the vibe with an immersive guitar soundscape and textured drums, we are already hypnotized by SJ Denney’s latest release, All I’ve Ever Known.

The song opens with the introspective lyrics, “I don’t know what I’m doing here, but I’ve travelled from afar, I’m not asking you to rescue me, even though you understand…”

As the song expands with poetic lyricism discussing the human condition and how we need support from each other. We also experience luscious harmonies atop S J’s already emotive and vibrant vocal.

S J Denney fell in love with music from an early age, after stumbling across vinyl copies of The Beatles’ White Album and Neil Young’s Harvest. He was originally a choir boy and since developed a mastery of guitar and clarinet, which are consistently featured across his discography.

Speaking on the theme of the release of All I’ve Ever Known, S J says, “Until I met my wife, I was a bit of a loner. I’d gone through a lot of stuff when I was younger, and that meant I put up a protective shield.”

“This song is about accepting the fact that you can’t tackle everything by yourself. Musically, there’s some influence from Neil Young and Talk Talk, in the way the harmonica solos wrap themselves around the song.”

“It’s my first song to feature a baritone guitar, which gives it quite a unique feel”, concludes the rising artist from Essex.
