Setting the tone with a dimensional, boundless synthscape with cerebral vocal samples, SidekoDJ opens his cover of the Selena Gomez hit Sunset Blvd with pristine pop vocals and the iconic lyrics, “You’re my cherry pie…”

The opus expands with high energy and intricate production to take us on a riveting trip. We appreciate the vocal timbre switch ups and the dynamism that the track exudes. The seductive vibe is brought to life with different personalities, making the song feel super universal and relatable.

In essence, Sunset Blvd is about a love so intense it becomes reckless. We feel obsessed, overwhelmed and unafraid to show it. The feelings are raw and physical. The song paints a picture of desire that spills into the public domain. It evokes the notion of people caught in the heat of passion. Their connection is bold, messy and hard to hide. This level of hedonism is something that we need more of – and we are grateful to SidekoDJ for his take on this energy.

As a note, the lyrics also explore craving emotional closeness. This is something that also feels zeitgeist and important. The “big, hard heart” hints at someone guarded but worth the effort, and we want more than a taste of affection, we want total devotion.

The way that the song mixes vulnerability with lust is brilliant in the original featuring benny blanco, but this time, the danceability is even more present. It becomes a fantasy of breaking boundaries to feel fully seen and wanted.

SidekoDJ confesses, “I wanted to bring the contagious energy of Sunset Boulevard to the dance floor, mixing synth-pop nostalgia with the immersive beats that define my sound. It’s a celebration of the freedom to love intensely, to lose yourself in the moment, and to find completeness through music.”

Last month we heard the somewhat incredibly curated set of remixes for Selena’s peer Demi Lovato’s Heart Attack and once again curated by the same team of genius, here is the mastered and complete set of Come And Get It remixes, including six tracks which are set for commercial release on May 28 (with accompanying VEVO videos) from Jump Smokers, Robert DeLong, Cahill Club, Fred Falke, DJ M3 Mixshow and Dave Audé. Check them out below. In all fairness, the track itself was destined for remix greatness. It’s production and structure alone allows for so much scope for experimentation – these definitely do it justice.
