Our obsession with Bloodlin3 is no secret. As fans of high quality, consciously astute, mind-bending hip-hop with out-of-this-world flow and lyricism that really resonates, Bloodlin3 feel like the future of the genre. We previously featured a slew of the trio’s singles, so when we heard that they were back with Say Less, featuring none other than Spice 1 and Young Collage, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in the track.

Opening with a pitched down vocal design that reminds us of Missy Elliott’s iconic album Da Real World, Bloodlin3 open Say Less with Spice 1 on the mic as he shares a rapid fire flow that rivals Twista. His mindset and concepts are metaphorical and assertive. The dark-wave soundscape is moody and dramatic with a bell-tolling synth – something that is signature to the trio’s overarching cohesive vibe.

The chorus hooks are super catchy, and lead cohesively into Mallachi‘s verse – again, spitting absolute fire with his nuanced delivery that is high octane and energetic. Stephen King follows with a cerebral energy, whilst Reinman Quiji delivers a philosophical approach, and Young Collage wrapping things up with his masterful presence. All in all, flawlessly execute as always. Concise, poignant and a masterclass in hip-hop.

Listeners will be glad to know that the single also comes with the Swishahouse Remix, created by DJ Michael Watts. This version is slowed down, perfect for a trippy TikTok, and elevating the more subversive energy of the track. All in all, the trio dub the release of Say Less, “a West Coast anthem”, and it feels exactly like that – harking back to the original days of hip hop, that dramatic, intelligent energy, fierce flows and an astute comprehension of the history of the genre.
