By now you will know that we have been covering the latest releases of Robbie Rapids, including April’s Gonna Rain, Who Shot Them Down, and Adolescent Lover, so we couldn’t wait to hear his latest release, Rock Ain’t Dead!

Drawing us in with industrial, electric guitars and bold rock drums before expanding into a wild guitar solo, Robbie Rapids opens Rock Ain’t Dead with the situational lyrics, “Too young for sex, scared of drugs, hooked by rock and roll”

The opus expands into a glam rock meets rock’n’roll hybrid energy, as Robbie reminisces on his love and idolisation of his favourite genres in rock. Speaking on the release, Robbie tells us, “I sing about some of my early influencers and crafted a song that could have almost fit in those great times.”

He adds with wisdom, “The rock music industry has sure changed since I was a kid, this song and video are about that.”

We appreciate the references to MTV and his favourite bands and Rock Ain’t Dead also comes with an awesome animated music video which sees our protagonist absorbing all of these iconic influences, making him into the well rounded artist that he is today.

The track takes on an emotive energy as Robbie Rapids sings, “But now rock is dead, the market squeezed out red…” before requesting his favourite genre from the DJ and professing indeed that “Rock Ain’t Dead…”

The composition is a spotlight on changes in the soundscape of reality, a relatable theme as we all form attachments to a defining part of our lives, which subsequently evolves with the times. However, it is fair to say that if this evolution had not taken place, we wouldn’t be blessed with the diverse and expansive catalogue that Robbie Rapids is creating with his artistry in this day and age.

Robbie Rapids is a singer and guitarist born in 1978 from Grand Rapids, who began performing music at age 16. From guitar in high school Jazz band, to writing original songs; Robbie has performed at numerous occasions publicly under many band names. Best known for fronting a Tom Petty Tribute because of the similarity of his voice and musical taste; now he is releasing his own songs. He’s the creative songwriter and lyricist who teamed up with prolific top session musician and producer David Levene, to create a collection that pulls from four decades of rock influence

We have added Rock Ain’t Dead to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Robbie Rapids‘ wider discography including April’s Gonna Rain.
