Setting the tone with a refined bass, luscious frequencies and intricate keys fused with tuned vocal details, RED opens his latest release, Expensive Taste, with the lyrics “Bust down Burberry, bad bitch all on me, that bitch from LA, she just like expensive things…“

The rising artist goes on to tell us the story of how he has been spending money on partners with expensive taste. RED raps about Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Fiji Water, Burberry and more examples of a luxury lifestyle, cohesively with a cerebral hybrid-trap meets hip-hop energy.

RED, also known by Red Banzino, has also dropped a music video for the Expensive Tate, directed by one of Toronto’s greatest and most famed directors Samureye.

The video sees our protagonist take on a hyperreality vision with epic lighting, evocative camera work and a great performance from RED, capturing his vibe and personality. The colours and styling in the video are super polished and it feels like great things are coming for RED.

When speaking about his influencers, RED cited Tame Impala, PnB Rock, Jaden and Travis Scott, which we can feel come through in RED’s vibe, but we also see that the artist is creating his own distinct universe.

Expensive Taste was originally inspired when RED was going through an understanding of materialism and it’s real worth.

The artist has been going through more in depth advancements in his spiritual awakening, and almost didn’t want to release the Expensive Taste music video because of his changed perspective on materialism. Sometimes we have to live with our history, and make it a reference point for our redemption arc.

RED leaves us with the message, “Happiness doesn’t come from money, cars, or a big house. It comes from a great deal of love, gratitude, and acceptance within the greatest depths of suffering.”
