Setting the tone with rippling keys and an astral frequency, manifesting with meditative notions, Pat Piperni opens Quiet Storm with warmth and intricacy. The opus expands with a poetic piano performance with repeated riffs and a high emotional quotient.

There is a cinematic allure that comes to life, perfect for a range of sync placements, notably a romantic Hollywood movie, a film about the conscious universe, or perhaps a remake of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. We appreciate the graceful way that the keys are played and the cosmic textures that detail the composition.

Speaking on the release of Quiet Storm, Pat Piperni confesses, “This piece reflected my state of mind at the time, which was reflective and nostalgic, but also uneasy in some ways. I felt the piece conveyed a sense of inner tension that felt both unsettling and comforting at the same time, hence the title.”

The Montreal-based artist continues, “I feel that this piano piece paints an emotional landscape and also tells a story. It continuously progresses into different forms, without ever circling back or digressing from its main focus.”

We learn that Pat Piperni draws inspiration from classical composers including Debussy and Chopin, alongside modern artists such as Ludovico Einaudi, Yiruma, and Joseph Nimoh. The track was entirely self-produced in Pat Piperni’s home studio in Montreal, where he composed, performed, and recorded the piece using a digital piano with Ivory 3, before mastering it in Cubase.
