Setting the tone with textures of rain and thunder amidst a panning and reverbed synth, Tess Williams opens Prime Panda‘s latest release 3:28am with the introspective lyrics, “it could have been us to the soul free…”

3:28am marks the first of Prime Panda‘s pandemic material, speaking on the track, the band says, “It was written at that time, in a state of anxiety and worry. But it is also about perseverance and motivation.”

The narrative of the song touches on freedom and loss, uncertainty in am unstable reality. The band says, “We’re a DIY band that loves putting on our own gigs, making our own artwork and music videos and developing our own take on the UK neo soul scene. Our core is a dynamic live show that gets loud and psychedelic while still keeping our roots of jazz/soul. We take influence from bands like Hiatus Kaiyote, Yakul and Nubyan Twist.”

We can definitely feel the energy of those influences and are excited by the rising band featuring Tess Williams on vocals and saxophone, Shay Lewis -on guitar, Alex Stojanovic on keys, Michael Hussain on drums and Tuur Driessler on bass.

The middle-8 guitar solo has us completely enamoured and the build of the emotive track is decadent and psychedelic.
