Establishing the mood with a dimensional synthscape that feels spacey and immersive, Omar, also known as Omar Pierce, opens Better Be Lucky with situational, introspective prose as he sings, “You’ve never been good to me, you always say you’re asleep when I call…”

Immediately, we are drawn into the authentic universe that Omar is creating. His soul is tangible with his vulnerability as he shares his message and lived experience… with a twist. The production, both vocally and instrumentally, is cohesive and sublime.

The opus expands with a high octane pop chorus, which continues the narrative of the song’s concept. Speaking on how Better Be Lucky manifested, Omar harks back to a conversation with his songwriting collaborator Felly, “One day, we started talking about this girl I couldn’t let go of. You know the type: always playing games, not really treating me right, but somehow, we just kept falling back into each other’s orbit. It was toxic, for sure. But… the connection we had, especially when it came to the chemistry, was so crazy that neither of us could walk away.”

Sonically, we learn that Better Be Lucky draws inspiration from musical icons like Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, and Freddy Mercury, which is apparent in it’s embodiment – we can also hear a bit of The Weeknd in there! He says, “Michael Jackson will always be the biggest influence, without a doubt. His creativity, his power to connect with people on a deep level, that’s something I’ve always admired.”

For the release, Omar also worked with Grammy award-winning engineer Jaycen Joshua for production, which certainly explains the super high quality output! The star has an upcoming tour alongside RUSSELL! kicking off at the end of April, and this is no doubt going to be a year for massive success and growth!
