Setting the tone with immersive, intricate and expansive keys, fused with a light synthetic frequency, Night Tongue open the Dark Light Remix of The Flood with the atmospheric vocals and introspective lyricism.

The opus evolves into a darkwave meets electronica hybrid, and we are obsessed. The glistening details are meditative and hypnotizing, and we love the authenticity and vulnerability of the lyrics.

Speaking on the remix, Night Tongue confess, “This is a new darkwave, ethereal pop/goth remix of a doom song we released in 2019.” Elaborating on the meaning and intention of the opus, the Night Tongue tell us, “The song in general explores a dark, yet vulnerable space. It’s about laying down the defenses that keep us protected yet separate, in order to experience love and life.”

Night Tongue is an art band originally from Australia, now based out of Los Angeles. Led by songwriting and film composition duo Carisa Bianca Mellado (vocals, bass, synth) and Andrew Dalziell (vocals, guitar, cello, drums). Andrew plays the piano in this version of The Flood, rather than guitar, whilst Carisa delivers an out-of-this-world vocal performance that has us deeply engaged with the composition.

The duo are becoming known for the genre expansive style, which fuses post-punk, southern gothic, dream pop, shoegaze, doom metal, goth rock with hints of jazz, soul, folk, world, and classical music. The Flood is just one example of this. For their live shows, they are joined by Elle Haert (harmonies/backing vocals, synth/keyboard) and Jessica Reuter (drums/percussion, backing vocals).
