Mica Arganaraz for TOM FORD Black Orchid

Following on from Cara Delevingne, the incredible Mica Arganaraz has been named the face of TOM FORD Black Orchid Fragrance. It’s pretty well known that Black Orchid is a fan favourite from the now eponymous brand. I love mixing it with some of the Private Blends to create a unique and distinct scent, but worn alone it is also a sure fire crowd pleaser.

I’m really pleased that Mica Arganaraz is the face, she’s been on the runway (Valentino, Chanel, Dior, Versace) consistently for the past few seasons along with some great campaign appearances including the recent Tom Ford film with Lady Gaga, which you can watch again below.

The campaign is shot by Nick Knight who also directed the SS16 film.

Next up the denied Vogue cover. This is proof in point once more that Kim is playing the game better than anyone else. Being an intelligent business woman and making the correct dating decisions (to a certain extent) has propelled her into the high fashion sphere…and it doesn’t stop here. Those of you who know me personally and/or follow me on Twitter, will know that my respect for Kim Kardashian and what she has achieved is absolutely unparalleled. The woman is a genius. This cover is just beyond. It is for the January 2012 cover of Paris Vogue shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, where Kate Moss pays homage to David Bowie. Kate did a similar cover for Vogue UK back in May 2003 shot by Nick Knight. I know which one I prefer.

Nick Knight + Daphne Guinness. You cannot get much more flawless than that. On September 16, Guinness unveils over 100 pieces from her wardrobe in the Fashion Institute of Technology exhibition of her namessake, along with films, videos, and images, of and by the style icon. Alongside a rather epic roster of twenty-seven other creative talents, Nick Knight, Hussein Chalayan and Grammy award-winning producer Sam Spiegel have been brought on by Beck’s to become Keyholders of The Green Box Project – the world’s biggest cultural commissioning program and an initiative to encourage installation creation that is free from physical constraints and completely liberated by the unlimited boundaries.

Thirty unique installations will live within the Green Box – an 2m³ acrylic sculpture designed by designer Jason Bruges, which will house the works from London to New York, Los Angeles to Miami and in Rome and Milan – over the next three years. Other collaborators include Bompas & Parr, LuckyMe, Stephen Burks, Meryl Smith, Reed + Rader, Sage Vaughn, Shaniqwa Jarvis, Kate MccGwire, Kenneth Cappello, Kathy Grayson, Petra Storrs, Steven Harrington, Andrew Kuo, Austra, Hannah Barry, UVA and Warpaint.

The first commission, a 200ft high digital sculpture on top of Statue of Liberty by Arne Quinze, has just gone live.

So literally 72 hours after the video for Judas ~~leaked~~ dropped, Gaga has announced that her third single – Edge of Glory (which according to a good friend who works in A&R and has had the honour of hearing it) – will hit iTunes tomorrow (1pm PDT). Here is the artwork by Nick Knight (again far better than the album cover), in true pop culture style, the track will mostly likely leak tonight, so stay tuned. Edge of Glory is a piano ballad that Gaga wrote with her father when her grandfather died. After hugely disappointing Judas sales, it doesn’t surprise me that the third single is being released in advance of the album launch on 23 May.

Due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. being out of the country), I was unable to head to The Hospital Club in Covent Garden to witness the most talked about (and Twitter trending) fashion event of last week – the third installment of FASHION PIONEERS – a conversation between The Business of Fashion’s Imran Amed and ShowStudio’s Nick Knight. On the McQueen/Lady Gaga catwalk collaboration, Mr. Knight said, “Yes it brought the whole bloody thing down, but yes it made it into an event where everyone saw the power of it… He turned that fashion show into entertainment and that’s where the difference is. That’s why there’s three and a half million hits on YouTube. Making fashion into entertainment across the internet is the key to it.”
