Establishing the mood with a dimensional pop soundscape, Ben Hazlewood opens Too Loud for Tokyo with intricacy and metaphorical depth and a charismatic vocal timbre as he sings, “I got my colour back, from the claws of that pawn shop aristocrat, dice in the dash of my Pontiac…”

Too Loud for Tokyo is about someone who has been through tough time, and was feeling lost, but has turned their trauma and pain into power. Regaining his identity, Ben who was potentially exploited or abused by individuals and the system, has control over his life once again.

The message is empowering and assertive – holding a sense of defiance. It feels like a comeback song, something that we want to sing along to. It has a cinematic appeal, especially with Ben Hazlewood‘s descriptive writing style. His metaphors and symbolism are sublime, making Too Loud for Tokyo the perfect type of song to accompany a massive blockbuster movie where the protagonist taps into their self-realized energy and power to reclaim their worth.

The chorus, “If you’re running from me, I hope you stay there…” is highly assertive, setting boundaries and the line, “Don’t come back – I’ve changed, and you wouldn’t like what you’d find…” shows the artist’s evolution and recognition of self-worth.

The title of the track is uniquely not the hook, but a clever line embedded in Ben’s brilliant prose, rhyming with the words, “A good face for radio…”. This feels like a manifestation for the song itself to be platforms on the airwaves – where it belongs!

The track also comes with a fresh remix from NERVO which taps into a super high octane energy, very dance floor friendly and fierce. On the remix, Ben comments, “Too Loud For Tokyo has been given a second life with this amazing production. It beyond any of my expectations and i’m so pumped for it to live out in the world next to it OG counterpart.”

Originally recorded in New York and remixed on the road, the NERVO edit maintains Ben’s captivating vocals while incorporating a dynamic, pulsating rhythm! We have added both versions of Too Loud for Tokyo to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and the original to our TIMELESS playlist, with the remix on our TRIPPY playlist whilst we watch the cinematic accompanying visual for the song!
