This location marks the company’s first major tech centre outside of the US and its home country of Sweden and really reflects the capital’s wealth of tech talent, and represents skills across the fields of engineering, product, design, data, research and insights which are all integral parts to keeping that pole position in the streaming industry.

Back in 2016, I visited the Apple Music Culver City space in Los Angeles for NEO 10Y (here’s a photo created that day), and more recently in London I visited Spotify’s other HQ for an artist session. It was also incredible to see AWAL’s space at Christmas and how well independent artists are truly doing for AWAL to be on such good form. The power of streaming!

Located in the Adelphi Building, near the Strand, Spotify’s new offices will over time also house Spotify’s wider London workforce, who will be moving into the offices later in 2019.

I wrote Reality Check on the electric guitar about ten months ago and built it in the studio with Selah / SBO. The song starts as a conversion with the universe and evolves into a trip riot anti patriarchy, pay me, daddy issues anthem. I hope you love it as much as I do.

The single art was made with Diangular. The video was made with Rob Ulitski and Alex Lord and was edited by Rob, who did a genius job, let’s be real. I worked on the After Effects with Sai and this is the result!

Two years ago, when I was at a creative crossroads in my life, I started a music project in secret, NEO 10Y. I didn’t have any expectations, it literally started with one song and has rippled from there. Today, I have an audio-visual double release for Dopamine (the single) and Poems To Fuck To – a more personal track which you could call a b-side to some extent, I just wanted to release it in an old school fashion.

I’ve evolved so much as a humxn and artist through living this hyper-reality, refining my craft, movement, voice, guitar, piano and performing live (I played a show in LA last month). I’ve broken 1 million streams and created global social impact because of my unapologetic and political stance through my visuals and writing, which is really all that I could ask for.

This is the first time that I have ever felt like I have real purpose on this planet. I have made Dopamine for everyone, and its meaning is rooted in the idea of finding yourself so that we can collectively, through group consciousness, find world peace. ALSO IT SLAPS. Poems To Fuck To is a more personal track because I wanted to show a more raw side of my artistry but both are interconnected lyrically and spiritually. Will make sure to share the press where I talk about this in detail.

First of all, Jared Gelman’s “Never Know What It’s Like” takes on the hyper relevant paradigm of understanding gender dysphoria and expression through a heart felt ballad produced by genius Ray Riech and the lens of a stunning futuristic video (image above) shot in LA directed by Maria Skobeleva – but again a perspective of the city that is rarely shown in media. Jared truly is “an enigma, trapped by the stigma”.

Next up is a debut from Jesse Saint John who I’ve written about here for years since his work with Brooke Candy and evolution to become one of the most sought-after pop writers in the world – penning tracks with Sia, album smashes for Britney and recently for Camila Cabello. Jesse is a conceptual genius by any other name, and his song MOVE is a gym friendly, genre bending banger which does exactly what it says – makes you want to MOVE. Obviously the lyrics are completely brilliant and my personal favourite is the sass imbued “jerking me around but all that jerking can’t be too good for your health.”

Another super intelligent being I have had the honour of working with in the past is Kojey Radical – a multi-disciplinary artist who has evolved to become the face of cleverly constructed poetry as rap. Not sticking to any specific genre, Kojey is a pop/rap/rockstar with a soul and consciousness and this comes through again in If Only – a song about his experience with depression and the culture of sadness.

On the topic of loneliness, the enigmatic entity that is Lola Coca – super empath and London’s answer to pop’s impending new universe of quality and soul intertwined simultaneously has just released “A World Without Love” via Instant Records, celebrating women and the various connections between them. I love the guitar middle 8, it feels like The Beatles at a beach which is actually full of love.

Last but by no means least, M. Tennyson just released his debut single “Easy”, premiered via Out Magazine with the most incredible depth and filled super memorable hooks. I am so happy to see my friends leaving their sonic imprint like this, 4th density art at it’s finest.

For now, check out Turan’s video for Fear. In case you haven’t heard of Turan before, he’s an incredible profound soul and multi-instrumentalist artist from East London. The track itself is a haunting and very fucking apt approach to the current world. The video is directed by Real Good Liars, based a 3D print out of Turan.

Turn explains to The Hunger “the video takes the idea of fear and brings it outside of the body. It’s when the character actually names the fear for what it is, that he begins to master this entity that is holding him back, and holds it in his hand. By naming the fear one can use the fear, and as you see in the video; when you take control you can hold your fear in the palm of your hands, and it disappears. It represents the fear never actually being real, it was always in the mind.”

On an r&b note, I am in love with my girl Alyxx Dione’s Don’t Stop. Which you can stream on Spotify here. If you Alyxx’s work, she’s (a) a goddess, (b) this is a waaaay more mature and sensual sound from her with a slight Madonna vibe in place.

Next up is Post Malone’s Congratulations, from his debut album Stoney – which contains production from DJ Mustard, FKi, Illangelo, Pharrell, and more. The video is directed by James DeFina – and it’s a simple and abstract but definitely clearly major label.

Finally, Tove Lo’s Lady Wood. Now, I know this came out in October 2016, but I was properly introduced to the record in full when I was in Rio in Jan AND HOLY SHIT IT IS EVERYTHING. Personal highlights that bring me to tears almost because they are so absolutely incredible are Influence featuring Wiz Khalifa, Lady Wood and Vibes…

You should watch this film she made for the album, which is hypnotising.

This is a song I made called Echo Chamber, which I think we can all relate to. Listen if you have four minutes…

Echo Chamber is kind of like my soul split through a hologram (of itself), and I think it extends to more than just that. It’s what we have all been doing digitally and IRL for too long.

The reason last year was as traumatising and polarising as it was is because we didn’t talk to each other enough. We were silo’ed into echo chambers of our own doing.

Any of us who have used the Internet in the last few years have been subjected to this silo of looped information as human beings where we didn’t realise what we were what we were being trapped within until it was too late.

Some of us still haven’t realised how little we are actually talking to each other, on or offline. There’s been such a division in mindset of humanity that the only way we can circumvent it is by being more aware and opening up our minds and voices to each other.

It’s experimental electro r&b but both of their vocals are dreamy as fuck and the lyrical content holds this awesome sense of female empowerment. 2015 is clearly the year of The Wolf in music – Angel Haze, Kanye and Sia and now this…

Finally, onto Gwen – who did a random one off gig in NYC this week and performed her new track Used To Live with the minimalist and beautifully hypnotising (because, Gwen) video for the backdrop. She also just performed it on Ellen. Used To Love you has definitely had the strongest and most positive reaction to date with speculation in showbiz press about who it could be about and the fact that it feels, I guess, more appropriate.
