We are instantly onto a winner. Dark, vampiric, Vladimir-worthy. It will work with the Moët aussi. Although, I have been flirting with Neroli Portofino somewhat, but more to come on that soon…

Next up, if sunlight is no option because “hi, busy, formation, etc.”, then I’d highly suggest a local spa vacation. Specifically Akasha Luxury Spa at Cafe Royale Hotel. First of all, with the name as a Queen of the Damned reference, you know that you are onto a good one.

MR PORTER is without a shadow of doubt the only e-commerce brand that could even come close to describing itself as a style icon its own right. Falling comfortably within the Tom Ford zone in terms of refinement and aesthetic – nod to Brand & Content Director Mr Jeremy Langmead who has shaped the company in such an extraordinary manner within a relatively short period of time.

With that having been said, this year MR PORTER has evolved from pure curation to, what I’d like to call, “curated creation” with the introduction of KINGSMAN – dubbed as “a brand for the modern gentleman” – a 60-piece collection that includes suits, watches, ties, umbrellas, briefcases and more inspired and curated by the Kingsman film director Mr Matthew Vaughn, costume designer Ms Arianne Phillips and a dream team of British heritage brands.

Of course this movement now has the opportunity to be reflected across various categories of the MR P offering, so without further ado, I’d like to spotlight the MR PORTER GROOMING kit – a selection of some favourite products from the MR P team. The verdict? Pretty damn on point. You can see the full list and experience a video over on mrporter.com, but here are some of my personal highlights…

Pankhurst London is a favourite of mine and have had a solid relationship with MR PORTER for quite some time, within the kit you’ll find their signature Head to Toe shampoo and Sage Styling Cream. Secondly, British staple brand Penhaligon have partnered to provide a subtle and refined deodorant. You’ll also find REN Skincare’s 1-minute Flash Facial for the time poor (note there should always be time to “masque”, hello Patrick Bateman) and a final favourite is Dr Jackson’s balancing 03 Oil and M.E. Skin Lab’s Cell Restoring Mask.

Thom Browne has always been a huge inspiration – certainly in terms of his runway aesthetic versus WHAT makes it to store on a more commercial level. With a strong base in tailoring with a playful, subversive edge comes the capsule collection from the eponymous Thom Browne for MR PORTER – which plays out perfectly for synergy. The nine-piece collection of includes a sport jacket, Chesterfield overcoat, cropped trousers and contrast brogue boots. My personal favourite is the Colour Block Wool Jersey Sweatshirt. In the name of digital innovation, the first e-commerce retailer to bring us Google Glass is of course MR PORTER. The online mogul is the first and only UK stockist. The device is available via three bundles which include a frame, Glass and UV lens clip, 12GB memory, synced with Google Cloud storage.

Aesthetically, the device has been curated to be as seamless and classic as possible and if you look at the video that the MR PORTER team have created to represent Google Glass, it truly shows how society can (a) benefit from the technology and (b) how non-intrustive it is visually.

The Raf Simons collection is pretty colour heavy (most of you know that I am a monochrome advocate), it features hand-painted prints on t-shirts and sweats, plus formalwear including a blazer and white shirt, and unsurprisingly high top sneakers. I do love the shorts and printed navy bomber jacket though. The nod to the Cobain era comes through strong once again…remember the Nirvana audio extracts from the SS13 film by Pierre Debusschere?
