Setting the tone with a pulsating electric guitar, which explodes into a luscious, alternative rock soundscape, Moraine opens Life In This Haunted House with powerful energy.

We learn that the opus evolves to detail guitarist and singer Jason Brohm‘s recent experiences with his grandmother, who took Jason in at a very young age, and bought a house for them to share until Jason moved out upon reaching adulthood.

She continued to live there until she was diagnosed with advanced vascular dementia and subsequently needed to move to an assisted living facility.

Speaking on the message of the song, Jason confesses, “Life In This Haunted House is about going back to the house I grew up in and it being completely silent with no life in it, and the eerie feeling that accompanies such an experience.”

He elaborates with wisdom, “All that’s left are memories, good and bad. I keep waiting for my grandma to just come out and give me a hug, knowing it’s never going to happen. The song is about facing the past and learning how to move on with your life. It’s about seeing a house physically fall apart just like your loved one’s mental state.”

We appreciate the depth of the message, and the vulnerability and authenticity that Moraine share with their artistry. The harmonies are dimensional and the guitar solo is out of this world!
