Setting the scene with strummed acoustic guitar, Moonlight Thief open their latest single, Come Home with the poetic lyrics, “Reckless beauty, who’s carved in stone, a thousand chances here, that’s I’ve all blown…”

The rising two-piece alternative rock project from Germany is made up of Emily Küpers (lyrics, vocals, acoustic guitar) and Alexander Almering (electric guitars, percussion).

We love Emily‘s voice and the way she sings brilliant lines like, “thanks for all the hurt you gave, I need it for my art…” and “everything I ever wanted, I pushed it far away…” and the introspective hook “all these streets I roam, I roam alone, just call my name… and I’ll come home.”

The emotional build of the track is in synch with the meaning of the song, and the purr of Alexander‘s electric guitar is passionate and refined. The band says that they are “inspired by all that is human”, and we feel so much energy and spirit from the duo who take deliver a deeper understanding of heartbreak and sadness and build on the transformative power of vulnerability.

Speaking on the track, the duo say, “Come Home isn’t the first song we’ve released, but it contains the first vocals we ever recorded in our home studio. It’s about sorrow, regret and estrangement and about the wish to turn back the clock in order to start anew. It’s about the end of a relationship with a glimmer of hope that it can be fixed again.”
