As huge fans of Moon and Aries‘ conscious sonic universe, we were naturally stoked to see their 10/10 release of the single – Closer to You, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience of the track! As always with Moon and Aries‘ uniquely aligned discography, the song was released during the literal full moon in Aries!

Opening with a dimensional, spiritual synthscape with vibrant soft glockenspiels and piano, shimmering bells, astral guitars and luscious strings, Closer to You opens with an almost trip-hop vibe, with the signature emotive quotient of Moon and Aries‘ wider discography. Vocalist Jordana delivers seductive vocals, with a sublime range and poetic prowess.

There is an almost James Bond 007 vibe that manifests, and we could absolutely imagine this in an upcoming movie, or a TV show like Fatal Seduction. Closer to You is certainly Moon and Aries’ most cinematic and evocative release to date – also perfect for a perfume campaign!

It is, in essence, a sonic fusion of alternative slow rock noir and trip-hop sophistication. The opus balances notions of tension and seduction in a palpable, timeless yet contemporary way, showcasing Tom’s production prowess, coupled with Jordana’s delectable vocals.

Closer to You is designed to capture the essence of longing and intrigue. Its moody elegance recalls artists such as Shivaree (especially her iconic song, Goodbye Moon), Nancy Sinatra, Portishead, Goldfrapp, Lana Del Rey, and Dusty Springfield.

The duo’s mission, “Melody meets meaning,” really comes alive with Closer to You, as the track embodies themes of transformation, empowerment and mystery while offering an ideal backdrop for film, TV and brand storytelling.

By now you will know that we have a deep seated obsession with the artistry of Moon and Aries, having featured a slew of their recent releases, so when we heard that the duo was back with Sunsets and Skylines released in the midst of eclipse season on the night of the Spring Equinox no less, we were curious to say the least and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves once more in Jordana and Tom’s sonic universe.

Drawing us in with a glistening synthscape with the sound of water in nature, and an intricate woodblock that immediately taps into a spiritual and psychedelic energy, Jordana sings, “To be continued, I was walking on along new city streets, abruptly, I hear my name called out, someone’s wanting me…”

The opus expands with the philosophical depth that we have come to love and admire from Moon and Aries. Their authentic vibe and masterful instrumentation is in abundance once more. The cinematic allure and self-realized nature of the prose is tangible and prophetic.

Mid-way though the piece we experience a stunning instrumental segment with astral vocal harmonies that feels meditative and transcendental, like we are on the verge of ascension. The finale takes on a brooding energy as Tom also shares his voice, repeating the refrain from the main body of the song, as we experience his masculine protective presence, and feel complete and at one with the universe.

Speaking on the message and intention of the track, Moon and Aries tell us that Sunsets and Skylines is “to be enjoyed as you walk out of winter days into the warmth of the sun. They elaborate that the song “about being at the right place at the right time. Because you transcended the lower levels of your life’s journey. It has been an exceptionally creative year for Moon and Aries, and their latest release, Traffic, is another string to their already expansive bow, so when we heard that the song was officially out, we had to share our thoughts! As a side note, as we write this the moon just moved into Aries!

Opening with a dimensional bassline and textured cymbals, Traffic expands with a sultry saxophone performance from Jokomagic and luscious vocals from Jordana Moon.

Tom Aries‘ skillset as a producer is further brought to life by the more organic energy that Traffic showcases, and we are here for it! We appreciate the manner in which the lyricism encourages us to “keep moving”, in line with the duo’s progressive and consciously aware identity.

The creators confess to realising that “life is filled with all kinds of Traffic“, they cite “traffic in their mind, traffic blocking their desires, traffic between them and the people they love…”, to cement their metaphorical construct, which is certainly relatable.

The philosophical artists ask us, “So, how do you get through this amount of Traffic?! Do you give up, slam on your breaks, and go back home? Or do you: Take control and take the wheel. Do you slam on your horn and complain, or do you crank up your radio and find the greatest theme song for your incredible journey? Do you yell at the other drivers, or do you roll down your window, throw your shades on and acknowledge to the other drivers “we are all in this together?!”. Let`s do our best to enjoy the ride!”

We recently wrote about Moon and Aries when they sent us astral with their out-of-this-world single and album, The Arrival, so we were thrilled to have the chance to preview and feature Take Me Home, which not only delivers an experience in line with the duo’s cosmic discography, but is also a preview of their upcoming EP, Paradise!

German composer and producer Tom Aries outdoes himself once again with a robust and intricate composition that is full of nuance and detail, whilst Canadian writer and singer Jordana Moon brings to life the message of “warmth and assurance for a brighter future.”

The sonic landscape fills our souls with awe and wonder as the duo describes what they have created as “a full body activation experience”. We love the mantra-esque delivery of the hook from Jordana which feels meditative and affirming.

Moon and Aries are on a mission “to make music that raises the vibrations of the listeners and elevates your mood”, and that is exactly what Take Me Home does, fusing the duo’s brand of retro-futurism with ancient cosmic detailing along with futuristic production.

The upcoming EP, Paradise, which is due on 23rd June, features five tracks that are designed to “carry you away, but also take you deeper into your soul”.
