Our adoration for the expansive discography of Mick J Clark only seems to grow with each release that we experience. When we found out that Mick had just shared My Friend Evonne, from his new album Pole Position, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our thoughts.

Drawing us in with psychedelic 80s adjacent percussion and a strummed acoustic guitar soundscape, Mick opens My Friend Evonne with a charming narrative as he shares his feelings for his muse with the words, “My Friend Evonne is everything I want, and everything I’ll ever need, ooh she’s my baby…”

From the sound of it, Evonne is an iconic lady who inspires Mick greatly – irreplaceable, a princess and a devil, a character with a cinematic allure. The track is perfect for Hollywood synch deals, as with many of Mick’s songs, and reminds us of early Dire Straits and even Simon and Garfunkel. Mick showcases his masterful approach to songwriting – tapping into nostalgia and extremely relatable themes.

Pole Position has ten songs, fusing genres of R&B, rock, country, and ballads. Mick is signed to Crocodile Music and recently joined Warner/Chappell for publishing. Pole Position is his sixth album. His earlier album Causes was officially nominated in the 64th Grammy Awards.

Mick has over one million streams on Spotify across sixty songs. His music has even appeared in the iTunes Singles Chart six times and in the Album Chart! As a reminder, his song Me My Body And I was shared with all schools in Croydon to help stop self-harm caused by bullying.
