Drawing us in with a cinematic, dark-pop soundscape and atmospheric vocals that intentionally nod to Lana Del Rey’s Music To Watch Boys To, Michelle O Faith opens Sex Ed. with an air of sultry intrigue as she sings, “Cos I like you a lot, and I always seem to get what I want, got seduction down to an art, BFFs say I’m doing too much, ooooh shit…”

We are immediately enamoured by the drama and dimensionality of the production. Haunting bells detail the opus whilst orchestral strings swell with dramatic tension. There is no doubt that the self-produced artist is crafting a soundscape that is both lush and suspenseful. Michelle’s vocal delivery is full of charisma, flipping effortlessly between brooding tones, rap-inflected lines, and operatic flourishes, a testament to her formal opera training. The sound design is cerebral yet immersive, perfectly aligned with the vivid universe her lyrics conjure.

The timbre switch-up is epic as the track evolves into a genre-blurring hybrid of dark-pop, alternative, and cinematic noir. We love the expansive energy that transmutes both desire and mischief. As for the narrative, Sex Ed. explores flirtation, allure, and intimate encounters with audacious playfulness in a high school setting. Michelle’s storytelling is genius – captivating, immersive, and perfectly suited to a Netflix-style visual world, making it feel like an episode of Elite come to life in sound.

It is daring, intoxicating, and playful at its core. The interplay of bells, strings, and layered vocals creates tension and narrative momentum, making the track feel like a mini cinematic story. The production and vocal artistry combine into a thrilling musical experience, balancing decadence with sophistication. Sex Ed. is a masterclass in mood, storytelling, and sonic craft. The track would be perfect for sync placements in Elite, a Cruel Intentions sequel or perhaps even the series Sex Education itself!

Needless to say, we are fully in awe and have added Sex Ed. to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY and TIMELESS playlists, whilst continuing to stream Michelle O Faith’s wider discography, including Black Lolita, Cobain Heart, Diamonds and Babies, and Motorcycle, Suzuki.

Michelle O Faith’s Diamonds and Babies is a delirious collision of high art and street grit, a song that feels as alive as a Basquiat canvas. She pulls us into her universe with the hook, “give me diamonds and your babies,” a demand that is at once playful, jarring, and unforgettable. It’s the kind of lyric that lingers, both romantic and fierce, making the whole track pivot around its audacious charm.

The lyricism feels like a brushstroke of raw colour, jagged and expressive, an adventurous self-portrait painted in bold streaks of brilliance. But it’s in the pre-choruses where Michelle’s genius really crystallises, layering references like a hypnotic moodboard: showgirls out in Vegas, alpine glamour on ski slopes, liquid flashes of swimming pools, and the chic exclusivity of Shoreditch House. These aren’t throwaway name-checks – they’re intentionally placed references to craft a world within the song.

The production is equally fearless. Strings sweep through the track, evoking the elegance of a classical piece. Meanwhile 808 bass and trap snares provide unrelenting grit and pulse. It’s couture stitched with grime, a contradiction that feels utterly natural in her hands. The orchestration shimmers like velvet, yet the bass growls with teeth, creating a soundscape that’s both whimsical and evocative.

Vocally, Michelle O Faith shapeshifts between smoky melancholy and sharp-edged charisma, conjuring a hybrid spirit that recalls the woozy glamour of Lana Del Rey with the fierce directness of Nicki Minaj. She slips between seduction and defiance, whimsy and command, crafting a persona that is entirely her own.

What makes Diamonds and Babies remarkable is how it refuses to sit still. It’s part art piece, part pop banger, a song that revels in its contradictions and comes out stronger for them. Whimsical yet grimey, orchestral yet modern, Michelle O Faith proves herself not only as a singular vocalist but as a visionary producer and songwriter. This is pop music elevated to performance art, a fever dream that demands to be felt as much as heard.

On TikTok, Michelle O Faith extends the mythology of Diamonds and Babies with a presence as captivating as the music itself. Often appearing with Harajuku-inspired hair streaked in electric blue, she transforms the platform into her own performance art stage, blurring the line between pop star and visual artist. Each clip feels like a fragment of her universe – playful, daring, and dripping with style – offering fans not just music, but an evolving aesthetic world that’s as hypnotic as her sound. SZA even liked her recent viral Instagram Reel – so that just goes to prove that the star is creating something extremely specially and universally acclaimed!

Naturally, we have added the opus to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Cobain Heart, Motorcycle, Suzuki, and Michelle O Faith‘s exquisite, growing discography!

Michelle O Faith is quickly cementing her place in the alt-pop pantheon with her latest single, Cobain Heart — a ghostly, glittering track that tells the story of a young man growing up in the shadow of trauma. With ethereal production, deeply poetic lyrics, and an aesthetic that channels the mystique of Lana Del Rey and the emotional depth of Ethel Cain, Michelle isn’t just making music, she’s building a world.

Self-produced and gorgeously atmospheric, Cobain Heart opens like a fog rolling in: shimmering synths, haunting melodies, and a quiet, bruised kind of grandeur. The lyrics read like a lullaby for the lost:

“You’ve got Cobain in your heart, Hendrix in your eyes,
Years spent in the dark, searching for your light,
Should have been a star, but you were knee high,
Alone with your daddy when he lost his mind…”

It’s a devastating portrait, part coming-of-age, part elegy. Michelle taps into the pain of broken boyhood, casting her subject as a fallen icon who never got the chance to shine. Her voice, floating above the melancholic instrumentation, is both fragile and defiant, delivering each line with cinematic emotion. It’s no wonder she’s drawing comparisons to early Lana Del Rey, particularly the Born To Die era, with a touch of Norman Fucking Rockwell’s introspective maturity.

The bridge of Cobain Heart, layered, lush, and drenched in nostalgia with direct Nirvana references – evokes Lana’s Fuck It, I Love You, yet Michelle makes it wholly her own. There’s a soft rebellion in the way she sings, a kind of mournful empowerment that defines much of Black alternative pop today. It’s not just mimicry – it’s evolution.

And Michelle O Faith is not just a voice, she’s a visionary. Her viral TikToks, where she appears with electric blue hair, wandering through nature or riding on the back of a motorcycle, build on the themes of Cobain Heart and nod to her earlier single Motorcycle, Suzuki. It’s a carefully crafted aesthetic that feels both dreamlike and dangerous, and her growing legion of fans is here for every frame.

As a Black alternative pop star and producer, Michelle is carving out space in a genre that has too often overlooked artists like her. She’s proving that authenticity and artistry can still cut through the noise. Cobain Heart is a soft, dark pop dream, a late-night prayer, a love letter to the ones who never felt seen. Michelle O Faith has arrived, and she’s not just part of the narrative, she’s writing her own.

You can stream Cobain Heart now on our New Music Spotlight playlist, and grab merch including posters and postcards to bring a piece of her world home. Because once you enter Michelle O Faith’s universe, it’s hard to leave.

Michelle O Faith’s new single, Motorcycle, Suzuki, is more than just a return – it’s a reinvention. After two years of creative hibernation, the South London-born vocalist, songwriter, and producer has emerged with a track that feels like a high-octane, neon-lit ride through the tunnels of Tokyo – both literally and metaphorically. The song, designed as the perfect buzz single for her upcoming EP, defies traditional structure yet is bursting with hooks, embodying Michelle’s fearless approach to sound and storytelling.

One of Motorcycle, Suzuki’s most striking features is its expansive genre fusion. The track blends heavy metal guitars with 808s, hip-hop kicks, and cinematic strings, creating a soundscape that is both grand and chaotic, intimate yet larger than life. This complexity mirrors Michelle’s own artistic identity – she is a classically trained vocalist with operatic energy, yet her music sits at the intersection of multiple genres. The way she weaves her voice into this tapestry, seamlessly moving between ethereal melodies and commanding presence, makes for an electrifying experience.

Her operatic training shines through, not just in vocal technique but in the sheer drama of her delivery. There’s a theatricality to how she rides the beat, letting her voice cut through the production like a high-speed motorcycle slicing through a midnight highway. The instrumentation is equally cinematic – the strings add grandeur, the 808s add weight, and the metal guitars inject raw, unfiltered energy. It’s a collision of worlds, yet Michelle makes them coexist effortlessly.

Lyrically, Motorcycle, Suzuki is a study in self-assurance, identity, and movement—both literal and figurative. The opening lines set the scene: “Summer time and we’re back outside Black girl wearing yellow, she’s angelic with a devil side, she a little bit ghetto…”

There’s a duality at play here: light and dark, elegance and edge. The image is both striking and symbolic – a burst of vibrancy, confidence, and joy. But the self-awareness in “angelic with a devilish side” suggests depth beyond the aesthetic; this is a persona that refuses to be one-dimensional.

The lyric, “Watch me ride under a neon sky…” evokes a futuristic, cyberpunk-like imagery, speeding through an urban dreamscape. The repetition of “I’m gang until I die…” is almost incantatory, reinforcing an unwavering commitment to self and community. The motorcycle becomes more than just a vehicle – it’s a metaphor for agency, power, and movement.

The most defiant moment comes with the lines, “Put me on the back of your Motorcycle, Suzuki, catch me in the rearview mirror, ain’t a bitch who look like me… I know you like it when I ride reckless in these city streets, catch me in the rearview mirror, ain’t a bitch who look like me…” This is not just about individuality – it’s about being unforgettable. Michelle isn’t just present; she’s imprinting herself into the fabric of the moment. The rearview mirror imagery suggests that while others may try to catch up, she’s already ahead, forging her own path at full speed.

What makes Motorcycle, Suzuki the perfect reintroduction for Michelle O Faith is its structural unpredictability. Unlike conventional pop songs with clear verses, pre-choruses, and hooks, this track unfolds like a sonic fever dream. It’s as if Michelle is inviting us on a ride with no clear destination, trusting that the experience itself is the point.

Her use of TikTok to pre-promote the single speaks to her awareness of how music is consumed today. The fragmented, hook-driven nature of the track makes it ideal for viral moments – whether it’s the hypnotic teaser, the assertive refrains, or the cinematic world-building of the production. This isn’t just a song; it’s an experience, meant to be looped, dissected, and felt.

Michelle O Faith has never been one to conform, and has always operated outside the expected. Motorcycle, Suzuki is a testament to her evolution – sonically bolder, lyrically sharper, and structurally more daring than anything before.

With her upcoming EP on the horizon, this single serves as both an announcement and a challenge: Michelle is back, faster and fiercer than ever. And if Motorcycle, Suzuki and her latest TikTok teasers are anything to go by, the journey ahead is going to be thrilling. We have added Motorcycle, Suzuki to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the rising star’s wider discography!

Setting the tone with a conceptual and nuanced crowd noise detail, Michelle O Faith opens her latest single, Anyone Can Be a Lover with the lyrics, “He said ‘baby what to do, when all the drugs I do, don’t work like you? I got plenty vices too… but we still hit different.'”

As the songs expands, we experience luscious strings and a flawless, nuanced and characterful delivery from the rising London artist who was recently awarded the MOBO fund.

On Anyone Can Be A Lover, Michelle reminisces in this luxurious, narrative-driven composition about an intimate connection she had with a record executive as she delivers the hook, “under the right light, anyone can be a lover…”

The strings production is out of this world, textured and emotive whilst Michelle croons introspectively, “baby do you use, your trauma as your ruse, my hidden muse, does your wife sing your blues?”

Fans of early Lana Del Rey will connect with Anyone Can Be A Lover, and we have been streaming Michelle O Faith‘s wider discography including Black Lolita and Half Naija.

Enchanting London-based star Michelle O Faith, who released her epic Black Lolita video and Lagoon, Vol I and II in the last year has made her return with a fierce song and iconic video for “Half Naija”.

She gives life to the Universe But I swear, I swear Yeah, I swear Who gon’ love you, gon’ love you like her? Who gon’ f*ck you like her? Who gon’ move you like her? So, who could really do it like her? Her

“Half Naija” is a really cinematic and exquisite self-produced Afrobeat-inspired track fused with the instantly recognisable alt-pop vibe that Michelle O Faith has cemented for herself and with a fresh insight into her ancestry.

Born to a Ugandan mother and Nigerian father, “Half Naija” sees Michelle put her heritage on proud display; and break new ground sonically as she draws on inspiration from popular African female artists including Tems and Aya Nakamura.

All the while, Michelle stays anchored in her striking, operatic-tinged vocal that has garnered her comparison to Lana Del Rey and Kate Bush, and her penchant for a provocative, layered lyric.

“Half Naija” official music video is based on a Storyboard/Treatment by Michelle O Faith; and is just as cinematic as the popular “Black Lolita” music video.

The video sees elaborate and artistic scenes that show how deserving O Faith really is of the big leagues.

London-based MOBO grant recipient, Michelle O Faith just released her latest single “Kiss The Boys”. This marks the 5th track that our favourite Black Lolita has released throughout 2020 and 2021 (Speaking In Tongues, Bloomsbury Hotel, Eskimo Summer and of course Black Lolita) – in addition to her two part release: Lagoon and Lagoon II.

Kiss The Boys is a three minute, powerful and lyrically intricate offering with a clever and subversive take on iconic British nursery rhymes. O Faith’s inner baddie seduces on the refrain, “Been on my K I S S I NG, tell Georgie Porgie, fuck with me, yeah you crossed my heart, now you’re gonna die, yeah I’ll kiss them boys and I’ll make them cry.”

The production is super clean and stripped back, and Michelle is super present on the track which is refreshing and bold, fitting considering the lyrics.

My intention was to embed a YouTube video below, but in a weird and twisted turn of events, I can’t. Mykki Blanco’s Pornhub and Justin Moran produced video for Loner has been removed from YouTube for violating nudity and sexual content policies… ermmmm, having seen the video this week – there is literally none of the above – instead a clear and beautifully evoking display of queer LOVE – no nudity, no porn.

So why YouTube? What exactly is the issue here? This double standard is nothing less than homophobia. Mykki just Tweeted “Our society grants hetero privilege to parade overly sexualized images of women for a cis male gaze yet Queer imagery is policied, demeaned.”

In addition, I am completely in support of Mykki’s vocalisation on the fact that black publications such as VIBE, BET etc. refuse to cover his or most queer POC’s work – another archaic stigma that queer and politically skewed artists of colour have to deal with because they don’t fit into white mainstream media or “traditional” hip hop media’s idea of what works.

Anyway, that said, the video for Loner is a visually enigmatic work of art that pushed cultural and marketing boundaries and every single person involved should be so proud. Let’s hope this YouTube ban is lifted and if anything just generates more press and talking points for Mykki.

In the meantime, watch it on Pornhub (cos new experiences are fun).

Next up my girl Lola Coca has delivered her latest video – this time for E G O EGO – full of progressive sass and intelligently constructed across sonic and visual lines (as with everything she’s released since Bad Girlfriend), Lola is truly a future pop star.

Last but not least, in an intelligently reworked response to the proverbial phrase “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, Michelle O Faith responds by telling The Line of Best Fit “Every bad situation doesn’t have a saving grace. Things can’t always be turned around. I wanted to write a song about the dark cloud with no silver lining. About being wronged on such a scale that there is no wriggle room for remedy or consolation.”

“I can’t make Lemonade out of this / You’ve left me only pips / I choke.”

With tribal drums and an almost Kate Bush esque vocal tenacity, I have completely fallen in love with Michelle and what she stands for and I think you will too.
