Establishing the mood with a cosmic soundscape, Matthew Phillips opens Battlefield Of Love with anthemic dimensionality and atmospheric vocals as he shares the lyrics, “In the battlefield of love, when there’s no-one left for us, in the battlefield of love, I choose you, I choose you…”

We appreciate the metaphorical depth that manifests, and could imagine this being featured in a film like the Oscar-winning One Battle After Another or a TV show like Smallville. Fans of Kygo and Porter Robinson would also be able to connect with what Matthew is delivering.

The production is sublime and holds a high emotional quotient. The drop is epic, tapping into an ethereal-rock-meets-EDM frequency. His poetic prowess comes to life with vulnerable prose and a cinematic allure.

The electric guitar solo is transcendental and really amplifies the anthemic resonance of the song. Matthew confesses, “When I sat down to write Battlefield Of Love, I kept coming back to one simple thought: being chosen is the greatest feeling in the world.”

The rising artist continues, “We live in a time where relationships can feel disposable. It’s easy to walk away, easier to ghost someone over the smallest disagreement, and even easier to believe there’s always someone else just a swipe away. Somewhere along the way, choosing each other every day started to feel less common.”

Overall, we are obsessed with Matthew’s philosophical approach to songwriting for Battlefield Of Love. It reminds us that lasting love is an intentional choice. He premiered the track on a massive stage at San Diego County Fair and needless to say, we are in awe.

We have added Battlefield Of Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Matthew Phillips, including the entirety of his 2025 album, Till Its Over.
