We previously featured Marxoxo for Planet PH0R14, as well as her cinematic and expressive, Sleeping Beauty inspired visual for Euphoria, so when we heard that the rising pop temptress was back with the seasonal and subtly titled, SUCK U SUCCUBUS, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!

Drawing us in with a metallic synthscape and bright percussive elements, Marxoxo opens SUCK U SUCCUBUS with a cerebral and subversive vocal design. Needless to say we are in awe.

Accompanied by a pulsating beat, astral risers and pitched vocals, Marxoxo take us on an evocative journey with her immersive sonic landscape and seductive lyricism. We love the middle eight breakdown with spoken word nuances that fans of Ayesha Erotica would absolutely be able to connect with.

Speaking on the release, Marxoxo assertively says, “It’s dance. It’s punk. It’s pop. It’s kunt. It’s everything that conservatives hate and the chasers bate to. Being the doll, just existing is highly politicised, so I took that energy and experience to rewrite the narrative into a power fantasy. I’m the dream girl and the nightmare; the alpha and the omega.”

She describes the track as “the evil doll anthem ripe for sucksumption this spooky season”, and we are inclined to agree! The track features epic guitar-work from Dynastic, and we could definitely imagine the song in a remake of Jennifer’s Body!

Rising hyperpop starlet Marxoxo has just released the video for her critically acclaimed song, Euphoria! The trans Filipina artist is known for pulling inspiration from personal drama, dreams, and diaries. Her sound fits cohesively between the hyperpop of Charli XCX and the attitude of early Britney Spears (she even has a cover of Overprotected!).

Euphoria is the lead single from her EP, ID:Me, and is a bop about “celebrating yourself and being your own icon and person”. The opus is full of electronic and mind bending synths, bringing a wave of sounds that keep us captivated from the get-go!

The visual for Euphoria is captivating, as Marxoxo creates a fantasy world and gives the track a deeper meaning. There is no doubt that Marxoxo is paving her way to be one of the biggest artists in her genre.

Speaking on the video, Marxoxo confesses, “I created a literal fantasy world with myself as Sleeping Beauty complete with dress changes and a fairy godmother! It’s a royal metaphor for self actualizing and manifesting your dreams.”

The cinematic epic features Pastel Kei as the fairy godmother, Moistbreezy as the sleeping bestie, with styling by Louis Quantrille, editing by Mar Cantos, and shot by Nat Souza!

Marxoxo’s dimension is aspiring, candy coated but real and free. These elements are all brought to life in their lyricism, sound and visual identity. As part of their journey, Marxoxo has just created a live visual on a utopian stage on planet PH0R14.

The artist, who is a Sagittarius, says, “I recently journeyed to the planet PH0R14 where I performed a series of songs at different sectors of the planet. The first performance was at Sector UUU, PH0R14, where I performed my latest single Like it’s the First Time.

The song is about reminiscing over lost love, innocence, and imagining starting over. It’s the closing track from my sophomore EP, Fantasy v Reality, and gives you a vision of a teenage dream gone wrong.  This live performance was born to give the music a living fantasy experience in light of the pandemic. In collaboration with Lenoremelo, I designed the sets inspired by the moody settings of JRPGs like Final Fantasy.”

Marxoxo is definitely establishing themselves as a non-binary hyperpop legend and these virtual stages are literally a dream come true. We cannot wait for the next digital tour date, which will be a cover of the legendary “Overprotected” by Britney Spears, in early summer.

Marxoxo began experimenting with solo music in middle school. They dropped out of school band to learn piano, and soon downloaded their first DAW, releasing a few (now deleted) mixtapes in high school as they honed their craft. Marxoxo’s music pulls sonic and visual inspiration from anime, kawaii, and underground queer culture, and snuggles lightly between the hyperpop of Charli XCX and innocence of Britney Spears.

But more than that, it’s a juxtaposition of identities, balancing small town life with electric city nights. Marxoxo is a sought after fixture in the world of digital events, performing regularly and curating their own Club XOXO concert series. They’ve also been featured by tastemaker indie blogs, Grindr’s editorial New Music Frigay playlist curated by NEO 10Y, TIDAL’s editorial We Are Everywhere playlist, and Charli XCX’s “Charli” live tour.
