The opus expands with an Americana adjacency with guitar twangs and chord transitions that mirror the brief optimism of the lyrics before a moody shift back to the darker prose about the toxic relationship that Marcus Cetera revisits so candidly and poetically.

We are impressed by the authenticity that the track manifests. There is a cinematic allure connected with both the sound design and the visceral lyricism. You No Me is perfect for an array of movie synch deals – perhaps something that reflects the narrative of the song itself or an episode of Euphoria on HBO.

The emotive build and confidence that grows with the track is admirable. We are hoping that the protagonist gets out of this awful situation as he sings, “I can’t be with you, I can’t be without you…”. At this point they are broken, “This is what is left is me… it’s only you and no me…”.

The track shifts dimensional with a massive self-realization moment towards the end of the song as Marcus sings, “It’s me, I have to change, I have to face reality…” like a powerful and inspiring mantra! We feel empowered, we are at one with Marcus in his plight for sovereignty and liberation!

The Berlin-based artist’s single holds a high emotional quotient with its jagged guitars, moody synths, and a voice that trembles on the edge of collapse. We learn that it was in fact inspired by anonymous stories from psychotherapy, which the emerging artist has transformed into song. There’s no filter. The song is just raw truth, rendered in hues of dark pop and indie-folk.

Fans of The National, and Chelsea Wolfe, might be able to connect with the track, but it is clear that Marcus is on a journey of his own. It is not easy listening, but it definitely serves a purpose.
