<p>We previously featured <a href="https://karlismyunkle.com/2025/10/12/olivia-cox-serves-up-a-tender-yet-transcendent-ode-to-love-loss-and-the-quiet-beauty-of-letting-go-with-new-single-goodbye-for-now/"><strong>Olivia Cox</strong> when she served up a tender yet transcendent ode to love, loss, and the quiet beauty of letting go with her single, <strong><em>Goodbye For Now</em></strong></a>, so naturally, when we heard that the star was back with <strong><em>Made Friends</em></strong>, we were curious to say the least, and couldn&#8217;t wait to listen and share our experience. </p>

<p>Drawing us in with an astral, meditative synth and a pulsating kick drum, <strong>Olivia Cox</strong> opens <strong><em>Made Friends</em></strong> with atmospheric vocals and a subtle echo as she sings, &#8220;Feel the rain, still rushes down my chest, the sort of freedom like I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s happening next&#8230;&#8221;</p>

<p>The opus expands with metaphors and poetic prowess as Olivia shares notions of the human experience and life&#8217;s ups and downs. The prose is charismatic and feels authentic, especially with lines like, &#8220;Life is funny when it throws me off the edge, I swim right up to the surface and start all over again, again, again, and wait for the next blow to the head&#8230;&#8221;</p>

<p>Olivia tells us, &#8220;It speaks of modern life and accepting it how it is despite struggling with getting what you want. It&#8217;s a modern take of just getting on with it/ It is a feeling and alliteration of drowning in turbulent waters then fighting to the surface to push forward over and over.&#8221;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1020" height="1359" src="https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_5304-2.jpeg?resize=1020%2C1359&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-53304" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_5304-2-scaled.jpeg?resize=1020%2C1359&amp;ssl=1 1020w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_5304-2-scaled.jpeg?resize=632%2C842&amp;ssl=1 632w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_5304-2-scaled.jpeg?resize=768%2C1023&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/karlismyunkle.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_5304-2-scaled.jpeg?zoom=2&amp;resize=1020%2C1359&amp;ssl=1 2040w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>We deeply connect with the intelligent songwriting that manifests, and Olivia&#8217;s dimensional soundscape has a cinematic edge. <strong><em>Made Friends</em></strong> would be perfect for a range of sync deals, notably a coming-of-age TV show like <strong>Euphoria</strong> on <strong>HBO</strong> or <strong>My Life With the Walter Boys. </strong></p>

<p>Recorded in Northern Ireland with producer <strong>Aaron Brennan</strong>, Olivia cites the <strong>Beatles</strong> and <strong>Amy</strong> <strong>Winehouse</strong> as sonic influences, but it is clear that Olivia&#8217;s sound would sit perfectly alongside modern stars like <strong>Tate McRae</strong> and <strong>Addison Rae</strong>. </p>

<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s only one outcome if you quit and there&#8217;s only one outcome if you keep going&#8230;&#8221; shares Olivia through spoken word in the final moments of the song. We love the wisdom that transmutes with the track &#8211; it feels empowering and cathartic, as <strong>Olivia Cox</strong> invites us to pull through and embrace the ups and downs. </p>

<p>Perfect for a January release, we have added <strong><em>Made Friends</em></strong> to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream <strong><em><a href="https://karlismyunkle.com/2025/10/12/olivia-cox-serves-up-a-tender-yet-transcendent-ode-to-love-loss-and-the-quiet-beauty-of-letting-go-with-new-single-goodbye-for-now/">Goodbye For Now</a></em></strong>, and anticipate future releases from <strong>Olivia Cox. </strong></p>
