Drawing us in with a meditative, rising frequency and an immersive guitar soundscape, The Ingrid opens Lullaby with the lyrics, “Come to me, oh sweet dreams, take my hand, float upstream, I can take it all away, make it everything that I said, I can change the fog but I know it’s still in your head…”

The opus expands with a dreamy and cinematic aura, perfect for a sync placement in a show like Nine Perfect Strangers, or perhaps a scene in Euphoria on HBO. We could also imagine this being performed at The Bronze in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

We deeply connect with the poetic prowess and dark psychedelic notions of the soundscape and message. The layered vocal evolution is sublime and we love the high emotional quotient of the song. The build is magnetic, and the piano outro is delicate and truly leaves us yearning for more.

As for the concept of the song, The Ingrid shares how Lullaby is about the unsettling side of comfort. It explores relationships where care and empathy seem genuine on the surface, but feel hollow underneath. It’s brilliantly written and lucidly metaphorical.

We learn that The Ingrid is made up of Jess Charleslyn, Will Hornsblow, and Josh Platt, who met whilst studying at university in Chichester. Fans of The Sundays, Wolf Alice, The Smiths, and The Marías will be able to connect with what The Ingrid are creating, but there is no doubt that they are manifesting a sonic universe unto their own design.

Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Lullaby to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of The Ingrid, including their earlier singles, Limerence and Mother, which also explore deep emotional themes like obsession, memory, and perception.
