Setting the tone with a celestial frequency expanding into a luscious synthscape with dimensional drums, Luego opens FOUR MINUTE MILE with intrigue and cerebral vocals singing the conceptual lyrics, “Put me through the ringer, come out clean, she has got a stinger, in her teeth…”

The opus evolves into a cinematic, folktronica energy as Luego takes us on a journey of boundaries and self-empowerment. Speaking on the meaning of the song, Luego confesses, “FOUR MINUTE MILE is about getting out of a bad situation as fast as humanly possible, in bridge-burning fashion. In my case this meant, on my fourth attempt, I finally left the relationship and the divorce was official.”

He adds with passion and authenticity, “It meant cutting all ties to my past, and beating my chest and roaring like a lion, shocked and empowered by my freedom.”

We appreciate the personal depth that Luego, who is also known as artist Patrick Phelan, shares with his vision. FOUR MINUTE MILE also comes with an incredible music video, directed by Morty Zapata with out of this world choreography by Molly Cortez, that has us hypnotized and brings to life the narrative of the composition. Luego‘s presence within the visual, with his guitar, is also iconic!

Luego cites Post Malone, The Strokes, Bon Iver, Kanye West and Bob Dylan as some of his influences, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own!

Leaving us with some sage wisdom from his long standing career, Luego references T Pain and says, “As an artist, don’t ask for, nor take any advice from anyone. Follow your vision.” He adds a quote from Rick Rubin saying, “Be your own audience. Make what you think is badass. Make what you’ve always wanted to hear.”

In Luego‘s own words, he expresses, “I had to go to another dimension to express the massive feelings I experienced from failed marriage and I came out stronger. I turned the worst thing that every happened to me into the best thing that ever happened to me. And that is alchemy.”
