By now you will know that we have been intently following the recent work of Consequential, having featured the dimensional track, Down, and more recently, Not The Type, which served as a sonic meditation on transcendence and emotion. Naturally, we were intrigued to hear that Consequential had just released LivinLife-NeedU, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves, and share our experience.

Drawing us in astral tones, emanating an almost cosmic, question and answer whistle melody, inviting us into Consequential‘s spiritual, sonic universe, LivinLife-NeedU features a cerebral nature akin to a call of nature between humanity and the universe. The opus expands with dimensionality that we have come to expect from the cosmic composer, showcasing rippling synths, textured percussive elements, 8-bit nuances, and a fierce bass drop that evolves into a celestial drum and bass vibe.

The track features ad lib vocals at first, eventually sharing ethereal vocals with inspiring and metaphorical lyrical constructs. Speaking on the release, the British creator confesses, “This is far from the hardcore punk when I first started to write music, I just make what I feel in the moment.”

There is an optimistic edge to LivinLife-NeedU, and it feels like we have been invited on a bright and universally connected psychedelic trip with the artist. We could imagine this going down really well at Tomorrowland or Secret Garden Party or even a more spiritually inclined stage at Glastonbury. Consequential even cites Sub Focus and Wilkinson as sonic influences, though it is clear that he is creating a sound of his own!

Consequential adds when questioned about the significance of the release, “[It’s more] of a poppy vibe than some of the weird stuff I make, but hopefully there is a little bit in there still.” With reference to his intention he says, “[It’s just] to make a feel-good track with a feel-good message hoping to bring the sun out.” Something that we can all agree is much needed this Spring! Naturally, we have connected to the spiritual-EDM-pop vibes of the track, and are in awe of the stunning industrial high synths before a fiercely exquisite bass performance that completes the record, in turn manifesting a highly danceable finale.
