Lazarus is about the death of one version of me and the birth of a new version. I’m not religious but I used the biblical metaphor to get my point across. This song is about my partner and my daughter and how they changed me.”

We love the message of the track, it feels inspiring and cathartic at the same time – an ode to himself and his loved ones. It’s brave to take the step to launch oneself as an artist, and the way that Lazarus serves as an emotional confessional is rather brilliant artistry.

We could imagine Lazarus being featured in a TV show like Nine Perfect Strangers, or a movie like One Battle After Another. He says, “I just want to make honest and authentic music. I’ve written a lot of songs over the years that people have sung, now I want to be the one singing them. I play music because I love it, not for the results. As a younger person I was really hung up on what people thought of my music or how popular it was. Now I just do it because I love the process of creating and performing.”
