Setting the tone with a elegantly strummed guitar giving nostalgic 90s Oasis-esque energy, Lapels opens their new track, The Life and Times with the reminder that “all heals over time, that’s alight”.

The acoustic-driven guitar song expands into full production a third of the way through with the inspiring message, “give yourself another fighting chance, oh please”.

The indie-Britpop track is accompanied by a music video shot with a Super 8 camera, shot on location featuring a great performance from the protagonist.

We love the build, the textured and layered harmonies and the vibrant guitar solo. According to Lapels, the intention of the release is to “showcase how Lapels can deliver more melodic downtempo tracks, as well as uptempo”.

Lapels writes their own songs and collectively share the lead vocals, although The Life and Times is sung by Nathan. We have been immersing ourselves in the artist’s wider catalogue featuring two 2021 releases, All Things Down To You and Warning Lights, and The Life and Times is featured on our New Music Spotlight playlist!
