Elaborating on the inspiration behind Afterglow, King Kismet confesses, “This song was heavily inspired by the album A Moment Apart by ODESZA. We spent a lot of time studying the structure and vibe of that album when we jumped into this track.”

The rising star from Phoenix adds with wisdom, “It’s about having faith in the pursuit of our dreams even when we cannot see how things will come together. As long as we hold true to our vision and never stop. It’s only a matter of time until we manifest all of our desires. The song touches on the aspects of letting down our walls in order to let love in and show up as ourselves in this world, in order to give that light and energy to everything we do and everyone we meet.”

The opus expands into the quality of the soundscape that we have leant to love from King Kismet, with powerful synth work and anthemic production. As always, the vocal design is unique and keeps us hypnotized with dynamic changes throughout the composition.

King Kismet tells us, “Call Me is a long distance love song about what it feels like when you can’t wait to see them again. In a long distance relationship you look forward to the phone calls and the FaceTime calls that help you feel closer.”

We can tell that King Kismet is writing from personal experience and has brought his emotions to life through the song. We appreciate his authenticity. He confesses, “I’m currently in a long distance relationship. During the time of production, we have been traveling to see each other and spend time together. We talk on the phone and FaceTime every night which inspired the song.”

We recently featured King Kismet for his euphoric and refined release, Catching Fire, and have since been obsessed with the rising artist, so we were thrilled to hear that he had just released a brand new single, Wounded Healer.

Opening with atmospheric vocals singing the vulnerable, “It was not me, I want to start again…”, the song expands with bright and vibrant top notes, guitar details and epic synthscapes, all fused with subversive drums and immersive bass.

The drop features synthetic vocals and theme we are immersed by the mid section of the song which is stripped back and celestial. The track is another out-of-this-world experience from the Phoenix based producer and we are always in awe of King Kismet‘s compositions.

Speaking on the meaning of the track, King Kismet says, “Wounded Healer is about reminding ourselves to be in the present moment. To let go of anything that is out of our control and to recognize that everything that is meant for us will always be for us.”

“Even when we can’t always see them clearly. To focus on gratitude. To realize how far we have come and how much we have grown”, he continues with wisdom.

King Kismet cites Odesza, DROELOE and Flume as some of his influences, but it is clear that he is creating a dimension of his own, and we are here to stan.
