To celebrate the launch of eBay collections – a new addition to making the eBay experience more interactive by allowing buyers and sellers/us to create a social gathering of products that we like or find interesting, the e-giant asked me/KARLISMYUNKLE to curate a series of twelve collections that reflect my taste and interests.

Collections functions as almost a Pinterest for eBay products, we can build Collections of complimenting products and group products by a theme. Unsurprisingly, mine focus on the following areas: Black and Leather, Monochrome Wardrobe Staples, Designer Limited Editions, Fashion Films, Statement Sunglasses, Unkle Karl’s Choices (mostly books!), Fashion Soundtracks, Skincare and Grooming, Fragrances, Mancessories, Noir Sneakers and Iconic Posters (such as the one of Madonna from the early 80s pictured above).

Last night, Hasan and I were nailing the creative direction of the fashion installation and we’re both really excited to share the final details before it goes live tonight.

Young British designer Hasan Hejazi (Kylie, Marina and the Diamonds, Fergie, Sugababes and more) and KARLISMYUNKLE (Nik Thakkar/me) have collaborated to create “Second Skin” – a work of pop-art inspired by Pedro Almodóvar’s The Skin I Live In to celebrate the Circus: Masquerade Ball. Bringing Hasan’s archive collection back to life using a transparent second skin, the installation reflects the overarching narration of the acclaimed director’s latest dramatic release (check out the trailer as a preview below along with Hasan’s fashion film by the one and only Rankin).

The film is absolutely incredible and I would seriously recommend anyone to see it. Without spoiling the film, one of the soundtrack highlights was without a doubt the Chris Garneau cover of the late Elliott Smith’s Between The Bars.

VIP at Cafe de Paris (the stunning boudoir-esque area) dubbed PRIVE will be hosted by the blog and will feature a fashion installation from one of London’s hottest young designers Hasan Hejazi, Marie-Antoinette style costume masks featuring the blog’s pop culture muses including Karl Lagerfeld and Lady Gaga and DJ sets from transveral icon Munroe Bergdorf and Rod Thomas of electro-indie outfit Bright Light Bright Light. Uber creative club night and portrait photographer Eric Phillips will be on hand to capture all of the action.

In the main room, you will be witness to London’s most outrageous costumes as guests outdo themselves with mind-blowing facial cover-ups and DJ sets by Jodie Harsh, Kris Di Angelis and Joshyou Are.
