Whirring guitar with psychedelic patterns open the latest release and critique on regressive violence from Jem Doulton, originally titled The Spitting Dummy Parade. Sci-fi action, scoundscaping and emotive instrumentation from the artist’s guitar take us on a subversive and enigmatic journey, fused double drums as atmospheric stacked vocals enchant us on this wild and engaging experience.

As the guitars begin to gain energy, the track builds with a sense of urgency and delight.

The lyricism is direct, punk, subversive and introspective with a bid for peace and equality as the artists sings, “Here come The Spitting Dummy Parade, rose-tinted glasses permanently, fixed to the Little England pageantry.

The Spitting Dummy Parade features My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe on bass who Jem Doulton plays with in the Thurston Moore Group. Intricate guitar-work is also performed on the track by Mad Mad Mad’s Benji Bouton who “brings an extra level of psyche in the solo”.

Jem Doulton currently plays drums with Thurston Moore and until very recently for Róisín Murphy who he toured live with for seven years.

The London-based artist has been creating their record Perfect Picture with staggered released over the course of a year. Speaking on the record, Doulton says that it is “a sort of serialisation and journey that slowly reveals itself”. Make sure to stream Jem Doulton’s other tracks below!
