Jacre is an incredible artist that we have been exploring over the last few months, and recently featured his enchanting and anthemic comeback single, Only Love Could Be So Blind, as well as Jacre’s Not Falling, and the theatrical ode to resilience, Just Hold On, so when we heard that he was back with Holy, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Opening with intimate, melodic arpeggios, Jacre consciously sings, “Let’s step away from all this madness, remind ourselves what’s always true, leave behind this growing sadness the world is going through…”

We immediately connect with the intentional nature of the song, and the depth that Jacre manifests with his words. It feels profound and zeitgeist, considering the state of our shared reality. He sings about spending too much time on our phones, doom scrolling, the anger that comes to light with internet culture and invites us to connect with ourselves, our loves and nature.

The presence of Lucie Glang on the second verse and remainder of the song is sublime. The way her voice intertwines with Jacre is poetic and graceful. The chord changes are transcendental and the blissful nature of the strings arrangement is simply perfection.

We learn that Holy was co-written and produced with Dominic Romano, boasting a luscious string arrangements by Harley Eblen, and was mixed by Charles-Henry Volk with mastering by Philip Marsden.

The song offers a romantic and contemplative retreat from the chaos of modern life. It invites us all to seek sanctuary in simple, sacred moments and the natural world, something that we all really need in order to bring to life peace within ourselves and the wider collective.

Fans of artists like Angus & Julia Stone and Sufjan Stevens will be able to connect with the piece, and there is no doubt that the song is synch deal friendly, ideal for a romantic, coming of age movie showcasing a tender reflection on love. Naturally, we have added Holy to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Jacre, and anticipate future releases!

Jacre’s Just Hold On arrives as an emotional lifeboat amidst the turbulence of contemporary life, offering solace and hope to those navigating the darker waters of their personal journeys. From the very first notes, the intricate interplay between piano and acoustic guitar establishes a sense of gentle urgency, drawing listeners into an ethereal soundscape where optimism coexists with melancholy. Jacre’s vocal timbre, divine in its delicacy and charisma, acts as both a guiding light and a comforting embrace.

At its heart, Just Hold On delivers a universal and profoundly important message: resilience. In a society grappling with collective anxieties, mental health struggles, and the alienation of modern existence, Jacre’s lyricism is a reminder of the power of perseverance. Lines such as, “Just hold on till the days / When the light outshines the darkness,” encapsulate the duality of human experience—acknowledging pain while steadfastly affirming the inevitability of better days.

This thematic balance of light and darkness, struggle and growth, reflects an intrinsic truth about life’s journey. By presenting this message in such an intimate, soul-baring form, Jacre not only consoles his audience but also empowers them. His lyrics become a mantra for healing, offering an antidote to despair that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

The song’s theatrical edge cannot be understated. The delicate arrangement builds with cinematic precision, evolving from its minimalist opening to an emotive crescendo. The use of strings amplifies the drama, creating a sense of sweeping grandeur that feels destined for synch opportunities in film or theatrical productions. One could easily imagine Just Hold On underscoring a pivotal scene in a movie, perhaps a moment of quiet reflection or a triumphant resolution, or anchoring the emotional climax of a stage play. Its holistic message and evocative delivery make it a natural fit for storytelling in any medium.

Jacre’s voice, a blend of vulnerability and strength, acts as the emotional linchpin of the track. With an ethereal adjacency reminiscent of artists like Ben Howard and Damien Rice, his delivery is imbued with an authenticity that feels less like performance and more like a deeply personal conversation. The fragility in his higher register contrasts beautifully with the weight of his lyrics, embodying the very perseverance he sings about.

In a world increasingly defined by polarization and isolation, Just Hold On feels like an essential cultural artifact. Its emphasis on healing, growth, and connection taps into the collective longing for meaning and reassurance. The song invites listeners to pause, reflect, and hold space for both their pain and their potential, a practice that feels increasingly rare in today’s fast-paced, distraction-filled world.

By addressing these universal themes with such grace and honesty, Jacre not only crafts a deeply moving piece of music but also contributes to a larger, societal dialogue about resilience and emotional well-being.

Just Hold On is more than a song; it is a promise – a reminder that, no matter how dark the night, there is always the possibility of dawn. With its masterful blend of musicality, lyrical depth, and philosophical resonance, Jacre has created a piece that is both a personal anthem and a universal hymn. It is a track that will linger in our hearts, not only for its beauty but for its unwavering message of hope. As Jacre himself promises, “Till that brighter tomorrow… just hold on.” This is a song to return to, time and again, for comfort and courage.

Naturally, we have added Just Hold On to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Jacre’s exquisite growing discography, and anticipate future releases from the visionary artist!

Drawing us in with intimate keys and guitar, Jacre opens Only Love Could Be So Blind with metaphorical and cosmic lyricism as he sings, “There’s a gap on the horizon, where the stars should grate the night, there’s a shadow where the sun should rise, and now I know why…”

The track delves into the poignant realization that a past relationship was built on lies, using nature as a metaphor to explore the subtle signs of deception. This thematic depth is presented through Jacre’s signature style, which combines dreamy, smooth, and flowing melodies with richly textured instrumentals.

With reference to the release, Jacre, also known as British artist Julian Ransom confesses, “My songs are usually fictional, but this one is based on a relationship that I had a long time ago, where I slowly began to realise that almost everything she’d ever told me was a lie. The lyrics focus on being out in nature, noticing that there are subtle things wrong, with a growing realisation that the wrongness is with the person you love.”

We deeply connect with the emotional and anthemic build of the opus, and the charisma that Jacre exudes with his philosophical message and authenticity. The ebbs and flows keep us enthralled through and it is no surprise that Jacre is manifesting critical acclaim with his sound.

Only Love Could Be So Blind serves as a triumphant return for Jacre, following a brief hiatus. We learn that Julian has reignited his musical passion, crafting a sound that defies categorization by seamlessly blending genres.

The emotive track is testament to Julian’s talent for storytelling and his ability to create a deeply immersive listening experience. The song was recorded in Julian’s home studio and features the production expertise of Dominic Romano, mixing by Charles-Henry Volk, and mastering by Philip Marsden.

Critics have lauded Julian’s work, describing it as “incredibly emotive and atmospheric,” and “a really captivating listening experience.” His music has a way of drawing listeners into a world of introspection and raw emotion, with each song unfolding like a beautifully written novel. The comparisons to artists like Gregory Alan Isakov, Novo Amor, Hollow Coves, Hozier, and Villagers underscore Julian’s unique sound and his ability to resonate with fans of diverse musical tastes.

Julian’s journey is as eclectic as his music. From being featured on BBC Introducing to nearly performing on Britain’s Got Talent before the event’s cancellation due to the pandemic, his experiences have shaped his musical narrative. Whether it’s helping a Power Ranger start a music career or having his lyrics published in a poetry anthology, Julian’s inspiring story is a testament to his unwavering dedication to his craft.

We have added Only Love Could Be So Blind to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Jacre‘s exquisite wider discography, and anticipate future releases from the star.
