We last featured Moon and Aries as they teased a new era and embraced transformation and self-realization on the exquisite single, High Noon, so when we heard that the visionary spiritual duo were back with In the Silence of the Hills, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

In the Silence of the Hills opens with cerebral, psychedelic textures and a reverberating synth as Jordana shares poetic prowess with introspective depth. As always, the song holds a sublime, cinematic aura and is visually sublime. The production invites us to slow down and actually listen. The absence of drums is particularly striking.

Instead of relying on a traditional rhythmic pulse, Moon and Aries allow the piano, analogue synths, cello, guitar, saxophone and vocals to guide us organically. At its heart, In the Silence of the Hills is about stepping away from the noise of modern life and rediscovering nature, connection and stillness.

Tom and Jordana tell us, “If life was a cinematic indie movie – this would be the soundtrack to the closing scene…”. We could imagine it beautifully placed in a film like Nomadland, Wild, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, or a TV show like Crew Girl, The Leftovers or a scene in the more spiritually-charged, Nine Perfect Strangers.

We learn that the song began with a piano composition by Tom Aries in Germany before evolving through analogue synth textures and travelling across the Atlantic to Jordana Moon in Canada. From there, classically trained cellist Zara Hudson-Kozdoj added cello from London, Peter J. Mitchell contributed atmospheric guitar from Canada, and Hanna Marchand of Joko Magic brought her expressive saxophone from Switzerland.

The track is the fourth song from the upcoming Prairie Souls EP, arriving November 6th, 2026. It represents another evolution for the duo, moving their cinematic electronic world towards live instrumentation.
