We previously featured Knox Avery for sharing a resilient, faith-filled and cinematic debut single, I’m Built 4 This, so when we heard that If Love Was The Meal was being released as a follow-up, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves once more, and share our experience.

If Love Was The Meal opens with an emotive piano and ethereal synthscape with subtle ad-libs and the lyrics, “If you listen close, you can hear the world asking, not for much, just enough…”. The opus expands with cosmic textures and a beat drop, introducing female vocals with conscious, situational prose.

The message of the track is wholesome and intentional. The vocals intertwine with a high emotional quotient, sharing lyrics that we need to hear now, more than ever. Speaking on the release, Knox Avery says, “The song draws attention to the contrast between abundance and deprivation. In many parts of the world, food is wasted daily without a second thought. Meanwhile, families elsewhere are left searching for their next meal. This is not framed as a distant issue – it is a shared responsibility.”

The choral vocal moments really represent the notions of unity that manifest with If Love Was The Meal, whilst the guitar riffs tap into our heart’s centre. The vocal range demonstrated is transcendental – again cementing the raw authenticity of the track.

Naturally, the music video represents the song visually and really touches the soul. Further elaborating on the message, Knox Avery says, “There should never be a single child or adult going without food. God has placed more than enough resources on this earth to sustain every life. Hunger is not a failure of provision; it is a failure of distribution, compassion, and action. This song is meant to stir hearts, challenge comfort, and remind us that feeding people is not just an act of charity, it is a shared responsibility. It is a declaration that change is possible when humanity chooses to care, to share, and to act.”

We learn that 25% of all royalties from If Love Was The Meal will be donated directly to nonprofit organizations working to fight global hunger. In a world rooted in so much greed and capitalism, this feels like a very fitting gesture from Harold “Leroy” Holden, who is the creator and innovator of Knox Avery. Fans of Michael Jackson and the Black Eyed Peas would absolutely be able to connect with the track, and we could also imagine it being featured in a future world peace documentary.
